PS's doing Prepectoral/OVER Pec Implant Reconstruction
Hi, adding this listing to my prior thread on Over Pectoral Implant Reconstruction. A technique whose time has come, and is being done by Plastic Surgeons across the country. Allows reconstruction without the pectoral muscle being disturbed, no Animation Defect, faster recovery and less pain for most women. A viable alternative for many women that is likely the wave of the future. PM to have your PS added to the list of doctors skilled in Prepectoral Implant Reconstruction.
Thanks to all.

What is the benefit of this other than faster recovery? If you do this, then I imagine you will have to get mammo's or ul still?

Hi GreensEyes81, to answer your question about the benefits of Prepectoral versus Subpectoral Implant Reconstruction -
- Faster Recovery - Considerably less need for pain medication, return of normal Range of Motion/Strength
- No disruption of your Pectoral Muscle, so no loss of strength long term
- Considerably less chronic chest tightness from my own experience and that of many, many other women on the other, main Prepectoral Implant Reconstruction thread.
- No Animation Defect
As for surveillance, that can be done via MRI,as far as I know. Come by the other Thread and ask your questions and I am sure some of the other women will come by to answer. -
Thanks! Headed on over!

Hi
I had a pre pectoral implant after a cancer recurrence on the 4th December. Part of the scar has not healed properly, its right where the nipple was, so I am going into hospital tomorrow to have it restitched. My implant feels very tight and when I sit up or cough my breast muscle feels quite uncomfortable when it contracts.
Will this ease over time or is it because the implant is so tight, I had radiotherapy 4 years ago so the skin is not as stretchy. My implant is nearly a C cup.
I also want to start exercising again, will I be able to do any light boxing in time or will this not be an option?
-
Hi Willow, sorry to hear you are having some issues with tightness. It sounds like part of your issues are how your skin has residual loss of flexibility due to radiation damage. Another name for thatkind of tightness is radiation fibrosis. I had that too. Crazy, crazy tightness. Iron bra big time which I absolutely hated. I take Pentoxifylline 400mg/tab three times per day and Vitamin E 400IU per capsule, 3 times per day, as well as use a specially compounded Prescription Cream of Pentoxifylline and Vitamin E 5%/1%.
That, in combination with Fat Grafting and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as mostly resolved the awful Iron Bra feeling.

My PS is skilled in pre-pec. I just had my exchange last week and so far so good! The expanders we placed at the time of my BMX with alloderm. The worst part of the exchange is the soreness from the fat grafting.
