Vertigo with HER2+ Possible Mets?

Options

Looking for someone to talk me off the ledge while I wait for my Brain MRI appointment.

I have 2 Herceptin Treatments left (one of which is tomorrow) after chemo (TCHP) shrunk my 4.6cm tumor to 2mm and cleared my 1 node which was removed via lumpectomy with good margins. I did radiation which ended back in April.

While on chemo I developed double vision which went away after treatment and had no observable cause on brain MRI, EEG, and nuero-Ophthalmology tests. That was all done November 2016, a year ago.

About 5-6 weeks ago I had a couple of episodes of vertigo, isolate and days apart. At my last onc. visit 3 weeks ago, I mentioned it, and they said to wait and see since it was isolated incidences. Well, now it is daily, almost hourly where I feel like I am swaying on a ship. No nausea, headache, and I can walk as I only stumbled a couple of times. I have an almost constant disorientation.

Today called the Onc. who immediately put in an order for a Brain MRI.

Trying not to freak out on brain mets as the stats are really, really bad for HER2+ with brain mets...

I am not stage 4, but had a sister with a similar issue. It lasted for over 1 month. Of course after the first two days she was in ER as she was vomiting uncontrollabl with the vertigo. I ended up being ear crystals stuck in her ear canal. They gave her maneuvers to follow sevral times a day that moves the stuck crystals and medicine to stop the vertigo and related nausea. I am praying it is something like this for you too.  Keep us posted.

Vertigo sucks! I have had vertigo for years It comes and goes for no reason. They have me lay on a bed and turn my head both ways while tipping it back. Look up Epley maneuver, I do a shortened version of it. but it really works.

I have noticed that since on herceptin I get dizzy a lot more often. Praying it is not mets!

    Hope all is good!

Bevin, my PA at my last visit 3 weeks ago mentioned the crystals. I guess they want to rule out the cancer cause before sending me to PT for a potential crystal issue.

Thanks, Shelabela. Seems like they would send me to check the crystal issue out first before heading to Brain MRI to look for mets. Where did you learn the procedure or get the diagnosis of crystal?

OP here with a follow-up since I want closure when reading other threads, lol. The MRI was normal, no reoccurance or mets as of right now, whew! Need to see an ENT to figure out the dizzy stuff. Thanks for reading.

I had tubes put in as an adult. That helped a lot. Then cancer... RO ruled out mets. Thinks it's dehydration. Drink more!

    Good luck. Miserable feeling.
