I've previously posted about my confusion over whether to have an implant in my healthy breast, as suggested by my surgeon, to achieve better aesthetics when my permanent silicone implant is placed and my reconstruction is completed. I've received a few replies from others who have or had the same reservations as I and who chose not to have surgery on the healthy breast. I would love to hear from people who made the choice to have the implant in the healthy breast to achieve symmetry, especially if this was not an easy choice for you. Are you happy with the decision you made? Do you have regrets? I truly appreciate any input.

Thanks!

I had a BMX because I wanted the greatest chance for symmetry I could get! For sure I'd be implanting the healthy breast if I were in your situation, but that's just me. I'm a bit "anal" about having things matching and looking the best they can. It's just my personality.

There's no right or wrong answer here. It all comes down to what YOU want to do. The risk is minimal, but there. The outcome is unknown but the chances of a good one are high. It likely will not be a "rough" surgery as women get augmentations all the time.

    Good luck with your decision.

Hi VegGal. Thanks for your reply. Of course you're right, what's important is what I want. The problem is that I don't know what I want. I would never have imagined myself having an implant in the first place if it weren't for the cancer. Now I'm wondering, if my breasts look very different will I be unhappy? Or will that not bother me at all? If I have surgery on the healthy breast, will I regret it? So I'd just love to hear the experiences of others who have made a choice one way or the other, and how they feel about the choice they made. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for your encouragement.
