Biopsy on Wednesday
Hello all,
I am new here. I join the folks here waiting for test results. I've heard it can take 4 business days which would put me into Monday before I know anything. I feel like my entire life is on hold. Can't make any plans. My husband and I were talking about looking at properties to buy and were going to spend the weekend doing that. I can't get excited about life now. I am newly married. I lost my first husband of 28 years to cancer. And a year before his diagnosis my best friend. And after her aneighbor to breast cancer. All of this in the last 4 years. One after another. So I'm extremely scared. Not sure how to cope...

Hi Teena,
We're sorry you're here and worrying. What sort of testing have you had? You're sure to get some great support here from others who have been where you are.
We're all wishing the best for good results!

I also joined thisweek when I was told I needed a biopsy. I still haven't had it yet, but I feel the same way as in everything is on hold. Going through the motions of my daily routine with kids, etc but my mind is elsewhere.....and I need to stay off google! I posted asking about the biopsy itself, but only received one reply. Im not sure if I posted in wrong place or if I did something wrong. Either way, i wanted to respond to you and let you know I understand. I hope you receive good news soon.

Hi Mods, I had a needle biopsy. My breasts are very cystic but there was one that stood out as being more solid. And it was. They took about 4 samples and let me see them. I think the waiting is pure torture.
Greengirl I hope for good results soon for you too.
As for the biopsy itself, I didn't find it to be painful. They numbed me very well and I didn't even take a Tylenol after. Ice the area as instructed and it shouldn't be too bad. Of course that was my own experience. We are all different. I hope that helps any concerns about the procedure itself.
Hoping for good news. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone 😔

Greengirl18 and Teena200, I've had 2 biopsies in the past year. First time I was terrified of the biopsy itself because I have NO pain tolerance and I'm just a big BABY when it comes to needles. Stereotactic CNB, which was uncomfortable because of the positioning, but after the first little sting from the lidocaine, it was totally painless. The second biopsy was ultrasound guided, and completely painless also. The waiting for results was horrible. First time was a total of 8 days, and that one was the worst because they sampled an area of architecural distortion which has a frighteningly high PPV for invasive cancer. (Google is not your friend.) The second time was not as worrisome, as the radiologist thought it was a papilloma (which it wasn't, but still b9), but I had to wait a total of 14 days for the pathology. Waiting for results really sucks. You can't think of anything else no matter how hard you try. We have all been through it, and we understand what you are going through! Best wishes to you both for b9 results!

thanks to you both for your biopsy experience. Glad to know I'm not alone I feel a bit better. Did either of you have a mammo or MRI afterwards? That's what it says on my report to have done. Makes it sound as if they are done immediately afterwards?

Hi ladies,
Well
I got my results late today and it is a intraductal papilloma. Benign. Thank God! But I will still need surgery right away they said because there is a possibility of these turning cancerous down the road?
I don't know about anyone else's experience with this type of tumor but I'llwelcome any info. I haven't read any reports. I'm just going to wait for the doctor to call me back on Tuesday to schedule the meeting with the breast surgeon.
I was told not to google but of course I did. And I read that even though the biopsy was benign there can be cancer found in the duct itself once removed. Oh why did I google...anyway I hope that depends on many variables and what the report actually read. In the mean time I'm going to take these b9 ran results and enjoy my weekend and hope the same for you!

Very,very happy for you!!!!!

oh that is fantastic news. Go and enjoy the weekend now! I hope I will be as fortunate

I am very anxious. I found a lump about a month ago. It feels rubbery and doctor didn't think it felt like cancer but since I am 47 she sent me for diagnostic mammo and ultrasound. The techs were friendly and nice and they said the radiologist had gone home from the day and that my doctor would get results the next week. No one called me for over a week so I made an appointment with my doctor and I got the results today. They recommended a biopsy. Its in my left breast upper quadrant 1.7 cm. They didn't call my doctor so she got the impression it was not very urgent and they didn't say in the report that it was highly suspicious. Also nothing else was seen on my mammo or ultrasound. My doctors office made an appointment for me with a breast surgeon but its 3-4 weeks out.
This feels like so long to wait especially when Im so anxious. I have been divorced about a year and a half and I was laid off from work 3 months ago and I have two kids. This would be a terrible time for me to be diagnosed with breast cancer. I just started working at an early stage startup which is highly insecure and also very busy
On the positive side of things I do have good insurance. I am also dating someone relatively new and I'm worried about how having cancer could be really hard in many areas of my life right now. I know many other women have gone through this and I am not alone and if so many of you wonderful ladies could deal with it then I should be able to deal with it too but the anxiety is really getting to me

Teena, congrats! btw, intraductal papilloma don't turn into cancer. a solitary papillomas doesn't increase your risk for bc (unless there are other changes noted), however multiple intraductal papillomas may slightly increase your future risk of bc. They are typically removed.

new here!! Last month I had my annual mammogram and about a week later I received a call that I needed to come back for a diagnostic mammogram. Honestly I've never really worried about mammograms -- I have colonoscopy frequently due to strong family history and precancerous polyps found in the past. Diagnostic mammogram lead to a ultrasound which lead to a scheduling of a biopsy. They found a 1cm mass with angular margins with vascularity (whatever all that means) -- my biopsy isn't scheduled til November 7 and I've not hardly slept since I received this news. I already struggle with anxiety and this has inflated the fact. I have not shared this news with family or friends because I don't want to give reason for worry -- what does everyone else so to pass the time during"the wait"?
