Irritability and Anger increase on AI.
Does anyone feel like their anti-hormonal is making them more irritable and angry? I feel like I'm always in fight mode. If so, what medication do you take to help you with this?
I've tried all the seretonin (sp) uptake inhibitors. (Paxil, prozac, effexor, wellbutrin, zoloft, and celexa) and find them too activating.)
I've been trying for 18 years to find a med to help with my anger and irritability. Dx'd with colo-rectal cancer when I was 41., and the chemo and rads put me in early menopause. I currently take Amitryptiline and clonazepam.

pabbie...so sorry you are suffering. I do not take an anti hormone. However there are women on this forum that have had personality changes on it. Hopefully some will come along to talk to you. Good luck and keep us posted.

thank you for the validation. I took myself off aromasin this week and feel better. Of course I haven't told my one because she is a hard ass. I tried tamoxifen in 2008 which I had to cut the pill in half for 5 years. Femera immediately brought me too down the first week and arimidex had s/e's too.

It was a nice break in treatment but I went back on the aromasin today. I couldn't find any feedback on aromasin and anger/severe irritability or personality changes.
I'm talking with my psych on Monday for a possible medication change to treat this s/e.

pabbie...just FYI there are several women on this forum who have gone on anti depressants while on anti hormones. I'm sure the psychiatrist will discuss this with you. Good luck and keep us posted.

Dtd. Thank you. Yes, I take Amitryptiline and clonazepam., which are not touching my anger or irritability.
I might have to add on a mood stabilizer.

I just posted on your other thread about craziness and AIs. I don't like how I'm behaving and don't know whether to blame the anastrozole (one month on Teva, now on Accord). And I don't know what might alleviate my irritability and listlessness.

wow, dx'ed at 70. I currently take generic ellavil for depression, anxiety, migraines and sleep. And clonazepam for anxiety. Both drugs are not touching the anger/irritability of the AI. I'm talking to my psych on monday. take care.

Update., I'm back on the aromasin.
I took some time to try Anastrozole and Letrozole but the s/e were harsh the 1st week.
Aromasin has the s/e's that I can hopefully deal with. Taking more Clonazapem in the morning. I tried to get a break for the holidays but no go by my onc,
I hope all are well.
