Taxotere and carboplatin a second time around
Ten years ago I went thru taxotere and carboplatin for left breast stage 3 triple negative. After a met to the brain, and radiation 4 years late,I had 5 great years. Now here I am with right breast her2 positive. I just did the first treatment of tchp with neulasta last wed and it has totally wiped me out. I don't see an end to this nausea even with compazine or zofran. The diarrhea has been manageable at least. The first time around the chemo was bad but after a not so bad 3rd day I was able to continue working...a little slower maybe. Now I can't even get out of bed....is this a result of the TC twice or just the combo of the other drugs with it. I don't see doing this 5 more times. Thanks for listening.

I'm sorry that you are having such a rough go of it! I can't speak to having gone through treatment 2x's but I am halfway thru 12 weeks of Taxol with carboplatin every 3rd week. I have needed two transfusions because the carbo has done a number on my blood. The weeks that my numbers dropped I also felt extreme fatigue. Maybe yournext blood draw will give you some answers or if not,it certainly might be the combination of drugs that you are doing. Best wishes!

The initial dosing is higher for some of the drugs. That may be why you feel so bad. My first round ended me in the hospital 8 days later and they ended up reducing the chemo drugs by 25% in subsequent rounds.
It seems like most people have days 3&4 as the worst with this regimen. I hope you are doing better by now. Please call your MO if not. There are always more meds to counteract the ones that are making you feel sick!

I finally feel better! After about passing out on Tuesday, I went to the onc's office and got a bag of fluids. I was starting to get dehydrated. A bag of fluids and some extra anti nausea meds and I am back to my old self! They told me not to wait so long the next time! Next time as soon as the nausea starts I am going over to the office, I really didn't have this issue the first time so this was new for me. I also do have to do the neulasta because my counts this time were low and even stayed a little low with the neulasta. This is a result of chemo second time around. It is nice to have a place to vent!

Hello! I am on taxotere and carboplatin too! Finished my first infusion about 10 days ago. I posted on a taxotere thread, but since this is more accurate, maybe we can compare notes! Would love to hear your experiences and how you manage the side effects. Best of luck to everyone! Have a great weekend!
