Pain in center upper back

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been experiencing a deep pain in the center of my upper back, between my shoulder blades. The pain has been getting worse and worse lately.

Has anyone experienced this kind of pain a few months after surgery? I'll likely be calling my MO tomorrow just to be safe, but I was curious if it could be related to having "breasts" again, and the weight associated with that

it could be a combination of having breasts again, a change in sleeping positions since DIEP, overall tightness with all the stress. I had my stage 1 DIEP in Feb and finally went back to the chiropractor 2 weeks ago. It even hurt my upper back when I hopped on the roller table (probably not what these tables are really called) which is usually very relaxing for me. Not that day. Adjustment was momentarily painful but did a world of good pain/tension wise. Hope this helps

I've been toying with going back to my chiropractor, because the best way to describe my pain is that it's like I need to pop my upper back, but can't! Maybe I'll give him a call tomorrow too

I noticed that I was tensing up and keeping my elbows very close to my body as I walked around almost as a protection method after surgery. Maybe you are doing something similar and it is causing muscle tightness or even misalignment. Did you try stretching and exercise to see if it helps

Yes, I've had similar pain for years, starting around the time of my surgery. I find that it comes and goes, but will stay for months at a time sometimes. I'm really not sure what's causing it, I think it may have something to do with scar tissue. When I work out it tends to get worse for a little while, but calms down after a few hours. Since it hasn't grown worse over time I'm fairly certain it's benign, but it was worrisome at first.

Thanks everyone for your advice! Such a crazy road we walk after all we've been through. We're supposed to tell the doc if anything abnormal is going on for more than a couple of weeks, but after our bodies have been ravaged by chemo and radiation and multiple surgeries, how the heck to we distinguish between normal and abnormal anymore, lol? I'm going to see my chiropractor and work on doing some good spine stretching and see how that helps, then I suppose I'll call my MO on Monday if it persists. I always feel like such a darn hypochondriac when I call her

I have had a BMX and reconstruction and since then I get pain in my upper back between my shoulder blades when I go for long walks or stand too long. I don't think its any thing sinister because it comes and goes and only after exercise..

I do think our muscle tension changes and our posture changes after what our body goes thru and it really is muscle aches and weakness.

I aim to start the gym and strengthen my body with weights.

Hi Aggiemegs, good to see you again, sorry you're having pain. I too started w a chiropractor for pain in neck shoulder blade and upper back. My chiropractor does active release, which seemed to help a whole lot. Hope you're able to get relief as well.
