I have been just diagnosed with DCIS grade 3 in left breast. I'm 65 with no family history of bc. I see my surgeon next week to talk about treatment options. I have been reading on the subject and realize I have a type that is better than invasive. It doesn't make it any easier to get over the initial shock. I have read the survival rate is good

    Dear maggie1952,

Welcome to the BCO community. We are sorry about your DCIS diagnosis but glad that you reached out to our members. Most of our members will say that this time in particular before you have a treatment plan in place can be very stressful. Take a look at some of the information on our site about DCIS. Some of this information might help to shape your questions for your surgeon. Take care and keep us posted. The Mods

Welcome Maggie, yep if you had to "chose" breast cancer, DCIS is what you want. :) They told me that to for IDC....later realized DCIS is even better. lol

As you are taking your crash course on breast cancer, this is the place to ask questions. LOTS and LOTS of support.

thanks for your comments. I’ve been trying to read through my pathology report but so much of it I don’t understand. It does say my estrogen receptor positive. From what I have read tamoxifen could be a treatment
