Ovary suppression during chemo?

I saw in the threads that some ladies were getting lupron shots during chemo. How common is this? My tumor is HR+, and I'm wondering about this. I asked an oncologist (not "my" oncologist, I'm in a big breast center and don't always see the same dr before infusion) about simultaneous chemo and hormone suppression and he said there were studies that shown doing chemo and hormone suppression at the same time doesn't work as well as doing them consecutively.

From what I understand lupron suppresses the ovaries, so may be I should ask about this separately?

Does chemo always put you in menopause? I started Taxol 9/29, had two treatments so far. My previous period was 9/23 and I feel I'm ovulating today, right on schedule :(. I think I want this choo-choo train (my cycle) to stop ASAP, right?

    Faraway,

Chemo puts female body at least temporarily on menopause(hence the name chemopause), I had a full regular period right after first chemo which was 04/02/17, My last chemo was 06/26/17. I am 47. I have not had a period since April 2nd and I love the freedom. The most recent FSH and Estradiol numbers were definitely menopause level.

I have not heard of Lupron shot w concurrent chemo regimen. I know for sure chemo fried my ovaries. Usually when all treatments are done including radiation, oncologists prescribe Tamox w ovary suppresssion shot or Aromatase Inhibitor. The first formula is for premenapausal women while Aromatade is for menapausal women. Of course you have an option of neither. I am scheduled for total hysterectomy so my choice is AI(aromatase inhibitor)

You still have to go thru damned chemo which is the most difficult part by far. I would be more than happy to answer any questions in anything related to this bleeping disease

    Take care

    Thank you, Castigame!

What chemo did you have? And is this always the case - not having a single cycle once chemo starts? Looks like my cycle was also around the same time as my first infusion, but I feel I'm ovulating (was always able to tell when I do). I'm 40, so very far from menopause.
