So this is making me really wonder! What happens when only one side is being reconstructed? Do they only remove one side of the butt? Do they leave it uneven or ?????????

The ps who did my sGAP reconstruction worked on the non-donor side to make things look even. I don't know if all ps who do sGAP reconstruction do this or, more importantly, if they do this well.

If you are considering sGAP ask to speak to former patients. Even though I live is a reasonably sized city with multiple physicians doing microvascular reconstructions when I researched things I realized that no one was doing sGAP in high volume. (The highest volume plastic surgeons in my area were doing, at the most, possibly one sGAP/month.) Though there are similarities sGAP is not the same as DIEP surgery. I ended up traveling to New Orleans to have this reconstruction. .

It doesn't look like this will end up being an option for me, but it did get me wondering about that question. lol. Thank you for your response, besa!
