Thanks guys - up again due to cough that will not let me rest......

the GERD was considered and I have tried 3 rx for it to see. Never changed anything. See I do think the upper esophageal sphincter is damaged. And the lower esophagus. My rheumatologist said when (IF, I say, since I will go to the Cleveland Center first and get a real team) he puts me in the hospital for IVs that will reduce the inflammation which would be after my PET CT then they can do a scope. I say I am not going through that again, had a broncho in March and it was horrible, I coughed endlessly for days, asthma attacks. Only good thing that came out of it was the cultures and the pulmonologist found an aspirated sunflower seed in lower right lobe, removed that. Otherwise it was unnecessary since I needed chemo and that was that. Also the rheumy dr said there are no drugs I will be able to take due to sensitivities. So I am stuck. Why bother?

Eating has become almost impossible. Some foods go down, some I give up.

The cough and irritation mainly lies in the cancer lymph node that was at the base of my thyroid. I had that going on 8 months before "discovered" and the Femara / Ibrance seemed to help then Xeloda finished it off according to my May PET CT and I got better too. The cough got better. Talking was improved 95%, could eat. But now it is not. All horrible and growing worse each day and night. Cold and breeziness, any fumes, any smoke, even the dog's breath throws me into a coughing seizure now.

I am concerned. I am considering cryoablation there if necessary. Radiation is not a viable option at my throat and doctors consulted to do that biopsy last spring said they would rather not do one though one was all too eager and that worried me more, but the others said it was too touchy for the vocal chords. The drugs worked so they left it go, doubting it was a different cancer though I had almost all symptoms of thyroid cancer.

I sometimes take aconite homeopathic 200C. Or bryonia 200C. The bry soothes a little, I have fallen into a deep sleep w/o a cough within 10 min after a dose. But those too must be respected on frequency. You follow symptoms until they are no more, but when the body is physically changed it cannot be 'fixed' and like my pulmonologist said, no amount of cough syrup will fix this if the cancer is not gone there.

Tried giving up the eucalyptus menthol lozenges and the light spray of the lozenges with water that I made, but it didn't help so that wasn't it.

My PET CT of full body is Monday. Oncologist appt is Tuesday. October is the month I have chosen to go to the Cleveland Center if necessary. We'll see how this oncologist fill in that I really like will deal with me. I am suspecting ascites and need drained or a drain. And you know, that could really help my qol.

That's my take on it anyway. But I am listening and checking for ideas and possibilities. So throw them at me.

Sas interesting on the flax seed. Didn't know that tidbit. And yes, wine is a healing liquid. And ale. Within reason. I hate the taste and effect of both so never bother. ACV is right up there with them, ugh.

Have to say I had a better night this evening than I did yesterday, the bloodroot could be helping. Slowly.

    Hey Y'all!

I started my very own topic to hopefully complement the other Puketober discussions. The goal is to encourage everyone to start our own "campaign" using social media and such. Opinions here and contributions there would be much appreciated :)

Fell asleep then woke w coughing, pin pricks into the throat. Up and at 'em. I wanted to re-read the suggestions and insight. I do use the mother ACV. Will add non-aluminum baking soda and celtic salt to adjust the ph to more alkaline. But I never have pain or indigestion unless I ate tomato product w ground beef which I do not do, it won't digest right in recent years.

The list of meds, LoverofLife - I checked all mine, not on any of those. In fact except the Xeloda am off most everything but my selenium and B complex.

What I do know is I have to give up on dairy to see once again if that helps the cough and phlegm, though it did not last summer. At that time I also have up gluten, histamine foods, folate foods, all meat, ate only organic rice for awhile, no citrus, etc etc etc to get to the bottom of it. And then the cancer was 'discovered' and so all else was considered beside the point.

A photo for everyone - what we look forward to here on the ridge where coyotes howled me to sleep tonight. Too cold for the peepers tonight, warmer soon. Drove into the meadow to get these photos a few years ago. From house it is down hill and across meadow to the woods.

BlueB, I was hoping that you would have one of the drugs on your list. Would have been less difficult to fix. Bummer! Good idea about cutting out dairy. Here is a link that might be of interest to you: https://livelovefruit.com/foods-that-cause-excessi...

In your pocket tomorrow for the PET scan. Hope they can figure out how to make you better. Btw, beautiful place you live in.

Mommy, first to catch a cold? Take care so that it won't progress to something worse.

I am on antibiotics for a possible sinus infection, but have a feeling it is not an infection. I have all the symptoms minus the mucus and congestion. The headache is annoying. No fever, but feels like I have hot flashes. As a matter of fact, I am having one now. Going to stick my head in the refrigerator

    Hey MammaRay and Ms. Sassy.

I'm so excited to have found this topic. I have a feeling I will be on here quite often in the upcoming evenings. Recently diagnosed, so recent I don't have a signature line of information, But I supposed I could start. :) Ironically, I have to go to bed...work in the morning, but wanted to say hi! :D

LoverofLife - ugh --- posint the bad foods from the article. On the best foods I am good, really eat a lot of those already. Some of these changes can make a difference. I'm game. I am going to eat a lot more seafood and less chicken and meat, I don't like to eat meat anyway. But avoiding carbs and dairy means meat, veggies and fruits.

To be a little more specific, here is a long list of foods that create mucus in the body:
    – Dairy products (yogurt, milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, ghee) my note, herein is a problem for me
    – All corn products ( noting, I do little but do like popcorn for a snack )
    – Eggs (seldom)
    – Sugary treats (cookies, cake, pies, pastries) (small servings and very seldom for me)
    – Wheat (bread, pretzels, buns, bagels, muffins, etc.) (too often, need to cut out wheat for sure, glyphosate sprayed grains second, see if that helps)
    – Deep fried foods (nah)
    – All soy products (never)
    – Safflower/sunflower oil (sunflower, really?)
    – Jams and jellies (very seldom)
    – High-fat red meat (1x week maybe)
    – Alcohol (no)
    – Caffeine (2 c a day but only w creamer, so bad bad for me)

Was in bed, scan in AM. But cough. Got up for a splash of mother apple cider vinegar in water. I think I will skip the 4am protein breakfast allowed, scan at 9. Just don't have any appetite but always ate to keep blood sugar from going nuts if it ever would. Drop me at a store (in the good old days) and leave me there and I will HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM immediately. Same w the breakfast. I can go until 2pm w/o food, but tell me I cannot eat and I am sick from abstaining. Definition of obstinate?

Karen - welcome - come back often. A chatty place I found I needed.

    Title of this story is

    HUBBY!! NO!!!!

Tonight I was coughing so hard and so exhausted. I had my head on Hubby's tummy as he stood beside me holding my hand. I never do this but I squeezed his hand really hard. I will never do it again.

Out of his compassion for me, Hubby squeezed my hand really really hard back. Felt like my last two fingers would break.

OMG Hubby! Not the hand. Big friggin' OAF.

Has anyone ever had their DH do this like during childbirth or anything?

It’s nice still seeing familiar names and reading the posts.

Loaded up on Vitamin C yesterday. Did my old trick of Vicks VapoRub on the bottom of my feet covered up by socks and went to bed early. Feeling a little improved. Got this cold from hubby. He got it from a co-worker who wouldn't stay home when he was sick.

Bluebird, I stopped doing the handshake of peace at mass with my husband because he thought it was funny to squeeze my hand so hard it would hurt. Told him not to do that anymore but stubborn fool that he is did it again and I never gave him the chance to do it again after that.

Junie, loved the videos. Looked her up on YouTube.

Well at least I got a lot of nappies today and went to bed before 11 and slept until almost 3 before the dry throat had me up for hot water to break congestion. Fiddling around, heard a mouse in the kitchen. Need to set more live traps. My daughter took food onto the sunporch and attracted them. In all these yrs never a mouse in the house, then she tempted them. We catch them and Hubby drives them and some seeds to drop them off in front of a neighbor's barn about 3 miles away. I usually cry every time, poor mice, losing their happy home. When we lived at another house long ago, I used to take them into our pole barn and set them up in an old dollhouse with food, blankets. I know they probably beat me back into the house. So now, it's 3 mi away. Want them all gone before it gets really cold, they need to have a new home before then.

I just love the new fill in oncologist. He is a very special doctor. He will be here for October and November. I am setting my appointments for beginning of October, end of October and November end. Getting the most out of this arrangement. Already had an extra appt for few min today because I went in in a wheelchair and could barely talk and no pulse or BP on manual cuff again. See him in morning for the PET CT results and plan to treat rad-induced pneumonitis and likely ascites.

Hope all of you are peacefully sleeping.

Today is my consult with the surgeon. It was pushed up as I called to see if there were any cancellations...sooner the better. Right now I'm guessing at the stage because there is suspicion of it becoming invasive. Even though I know what it is, why am I so nervous about this appointment? I already have the news. Chomping on my nails...figuratively.

Karentwriter ~ Understandably, you are still in the panic stage of your recent DX. We've all been there.

In the short time you've become a registered BCO member you have started 5 separate new topics on the discussion boards. Instead of starting new discussions, I highly recommend taking the time to read through already established threads - you will be amazed at the wealth of information and support you will find. You will find answers to many of your questions without the stress of waiting for someone to find your new discussions.

    Forum: Just Diagnosed

Forum: DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ)

    Forum: Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

    Forum: Waiting for Test Results

One more word of advice - many of our members come from various professional backgrounds. While we each are happy to share our specific knowledge and talents, you will find that we do so freely, expecting nothing more than friendship in return. Recommending one's own sale-able products may be off putting to some and I believe a breach of community rules and etiquette.

Wishing you strength, comfort and good results from your pending exams and tests. Best of luck to you in the successful sales of your books.

Peace to you BCO Sister ☮️

I do apologize for the advertisement. It was on a book club topic, so i thought it would be okay when I saw a woman advertise her book for quitting smoking. I do apologize. I wouldn't have thought of doing it otherwise. I did think it was okay to post and ask questions and didn't realize it wasn't something I should do as a new user? I guess I'm a little confused and will lay off of posting for awhile. Thank you for your time. :D I really didn't mean to offend anyone.

No offense taken. One of the biggest problems new users have is navigating the discussion boards. Even longtime members have difficulty...... it's a mess! Many new members start new topics out of frustration because they can't find the information they need. I posted links I thought you might find helpful to find the info you need. No rules on joining an established thread unless otherwise stated in the header/topic box :)

Please click on the link I posted for "Just Diagnosed" - there is so much necessary info and advice. Think of it as your "beginners manual" ☺️

Insomniacs is the place to come for a bit of an escape and to share in our love of chubby shirtless fat men by posting as many pics as possible. We like kitties, German Shepherds, Shelties, Cairns, Yellow Labs, Malinois, skunks and especially raccoons.... oh, and monkeys in clothes. Very diverse crew here.

The person advertising her smoking book was breaching etiquette. Some people set a bad example (sigh) I do apologize; my intent was to advise not to be hurtful.

Please let us know how your appointment goes. And share any scantily clad pics of big fellas you may have!

    😊

I can be a sensitive breed, but I really didn't understand that it wouldn't be okay. I will keep it in mind going forward. I'm also kind of a spaz and a control freak so I feel pretty powerless. I don't know that my fiance would love the photo thing though. LOL! It's going to be a long night I feel. Family staying with me tonight for appointments. I have a cousin that is awesome and insists on being there throughout and I love that about her.

I do have so great photos of the dear daughter, but unsure if we share those things on here? Honestly asking. :D I"m still learning how to navigate. She is a card. Her favorite movie, at 4, is (as she calls it) girl Ghostbusters. My beautiful weirdo. :)

From one control freak to another control freak. Ha! The first few weeks after the dreaded phone call was horrible for me. I couldn't eat, sleep, or concentrate. All I could think of was who was going to take care of my two girls (16 and 11 at the time of my diagnose). Anxiety and worries can zap the energy out of you. It was hard to manage until I figured out that since I couldn't control my situation I needed to redirect the anxiety "energy" to something that I could control and that was cleaning the house. Let me tell you, my house was spotless! So you have a 4 year old daughter? Please do post her picture. The anxiety will get better once you have a plan. Hang in there. And you are a writer.....yay! BlueB is also a writer. She will probably come on later. I saw that you have met MTwoman. That's good. If you haven't already, do check out her post on anxiety:

Wish I had seen it when I was first diagnosed. Please let us know when surgery will be. Finger crossed for favorable pathology report.

Btw, Shep is all mouth, but you will find that she is a sweetheart once youget to know her. Gosh, I came back and edit this. Hopefully, she doesn't see it.

You gotta watch JunieB. She is mischievous.

Appropriate sexy big man pics? Well I was going to go with one of our classic faves, but then I came across this pic of the day my FFH (Fart Face Husband) came home from day surgery after his his vasectomy. The doc said it would improve his temperament. Geez, it's been almost 18 years; if anything, he's gotten worse............

The other day right before I got home from work DD called me on my cell phone to tell me that she smelled gas in the garage . She had to leave for work. When I arrived home there was truck from the gas company parked right in front of the house that is up for sale (2 houses down the street from ours). Perfect timing. Went up to the man and asked if he could check our garage for us. He graciously told me he would be right over. I ran back to the house and tried to figure out where the smell came from. As I was sniffing my way around the garage the smell got stronger in the one corner near the fridge. I looked down and saw the culprit.

    image

Durian left out by DH to defrost. Tastes like heaven but smells like stinky sulfery gas! I was so embarrassed and immediately put the fruit back in the fridge. The guy from PG & E showed up with his meter walked around the garage and I was standing there feeling like an idiot. " I am not picking up anything. No traces of mercaptan." My conscience wouldn't let me lie so after awkward silence, I confessed. Showed the guy the fruit in the fridge did some explaining and we had a good laugh.
