Complete response, but still metastases.

I was diagnosed in november 2015, at age 34, with an agressive tumor that was 7cm with metastases in my lymph nodes. I had chemo first, and after my mastectomie I got the very good news that no residual tumor was found, everything was gone! My onc told me this great response was a very important result and gave me much better prognoses for the future.

Now I'm almost 2 years after diagnoses. My husband is talking about buying a bigger house since ours is really getting too small with our two kids. But I'm like... No... chances are very real that I'll still get metastases. What if that happens.. Shouldn't I wait a couple of years?

So why this post... I'm wondering if there are a lot of people who had a great response to chemo but still got metastases afterwards?

And of course also people who are still NED are very welcome to reply

The simple truth is you will never know whether you will get mets or not. I would live your life as normally as possible. Buy a new house, enjoy it. You could wait 5 more years and waste that time wondering. If something happens down the track, deal with it then.

    Best wishes.

Nobody here has a crystal ball, so don't let fear and/or uncertainty rule your life. I'd say a larger house is a vote for optimism and you and your family surely deserve it.

I know you are all right. Waiting to see what happens is probably a waist of my (precious) time. I'm still a bit hesitant, but I know we should probably just go for it! Thank you

Go for it! I used to worry way back when because of my Nasty tumor type and lots of negative prognosticators. But then I became acutely aware of living in the now and living life largely.

I have passed my 12 yr dx date and all is blessedly well.

Have fun shopping for your new house

Go for it!! You can't put your life and happiness on hold based on the chance something could happen down the road.

I had similar hesitation a few months ago when I was offered an awesome job at a different company. What if my cancer comes back?? Will they fire me? Will I be able to do the job? In the end I decided I wasn't going to let cancer run my life. I took the job and it's amazing and I have no regrets.

    Go find your new house!!
