A couple dumb questions because the Dr is closed...

I have no information at this point because I"m so newly diagnosed, but before my consultation on the 6th, I had a couple of questions. Can I take Ibuprofen? Can I take the cream that the dermatologist prescribed for my eye allergy? Can I take my allergy meds? It may sound dumb, but I'm completely unsure if any of these meds could potentially make the cancer worse. I'm even a little bit afraid of everything I eat and drink at this point.

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you! And no I don't have any treatment started nor am I worried for any other reason that making my cancer worse or having it not react will to the breast cancer. If I didn't have this, I would freely take the above things.

Take whatever you need to take. Eat and drink as you normally do. It's only a few days until your appointment, and nothing you have done has caused the cancer.

    Take care

Thank you! I hope I don't become annoying on this site. I'm just like (probably everyone else in my shoes) just wants to get in there and start. And I try to keep busy. Ugh! And then I'm starting to feel tired, but maybe I always was when this started, but blew it off at the time.

    Thank you again! :D

karenwriter- the stress of a diagnosis is so hard. There are so many unknowns. It's natural to feel confused and tired. That's why you can still take care of yourself, including your allergy meds and ibuprofen as needed. Hope your appointment goes smoothly on the 6th and you feel that you are getting the care you need.

    Hi karentwriter -

If they didn't stress any immediate changes when they gave you the diagnosis, then go on that :-) Do what you got to do until Monday....

I am sorry you have to be here....and dear lord do I know about being in my head...lol...it does get better but I think it comes with the territory.

    Peace from the west!

Karentwriter, I call it "cancer radio." It plays in your head 24/7, really loud, right after diagnosis. It gets easier. I promise.

Another question...once you were diagnosed, did suddenly "feel" sick? Like pscyho sematic? Like I feel like...why does make back hurt, am I really this tired all of a sudden, why does my arm hurt..etc...Thank you for your time.

Karen, I think everyone goes through a phase where everything that happens on/in your body is "cancer". That fearwill get better with time also. My MO once said to me. "Remember, common things are common". Those words stuck with me.

Oh, and that sty I had as my eyelashes grew back - that was in fact a sty and not eyelid cancer. He was right.

Yes, it's these little things that have me worrying. Hearing that it's normal makes it easier to stay positive. ;)

I pulled the hatch cover on my car down hard on the top of my head. It made a painful lump. I said to my hubs, feel this honey, do you think it's breast cancer?

It's normal to be in a state of anxiety. We've all been there. Some of us still are. The fear factor does get better over time and at some point you won't be overreacting to every ache and pain. It's really hard I knowbecause once you are branded with the C word all bets are off. My ONC told me in the early going that if I had a pain that persisted for 2 weeks to come see her and not my GP.

Just so you know I'm 6 years out last month.

Keep the faith and keep us posted.

    Diane
