Surgical excision biopsy

I had a surgical biopsy a year ago on my left breast (it turned out to be DCIS). I didn't find the surgery a problem at all - they did it at 1:00 P.M. and I was in the car driving home with my husband at 3:30 P.M. I had general anesthesia. I had no pain at all.

Mel, were you able to get a hold of your dr?

Mel, I am so happy you got your car back! Hopefully that other driver gets herself together and makes that statement soon. Let us know what the hema/onco says about those results!

Good luck MamaBee!! Everything will go just great, you will see!! This was my third trip to surgery and anesthesia, and it really is not nearly as bad as you would think. You do wake up with a dry throat, so expect that.

I go for my results / follow up today! Haven't gotten any calls that the appt is switched to the BS instead of the PA, so I guess that's a good sign. I've been dreading every time the phone rings. A few more hours and hopefully this 3+ month saga will be over!!!!!

I'm home now. So groggy and in quite a bit of pain/discomfort. My lump was big and fairly deep plus the surgeon did a core needle biopsy of another mass close by...so a lot happened while I was sleeping. I'm scared to get my results. My CNB was benign but discordant with imaging findings. I also now have a lumpy clavicle ...which are likely lymph nodes. (Not a good sign)Trying to hold onto hope. Please send a prayer up for me. I have a 3 year old son who needs his mommy!

Mammabee, I'm glad you made it through your procedure well. Hopefully everything comes back benign, and don't worry too much about the lumpy clavicle. Did your BS see that while you were under?

They didn't puta tensor or binder on me at the hospital. My bra isn't working for me. I'm in quite a bit of pain/discomfort. Any suggestions?

sports bra if you have one. Do you have an ace bandage? maybe that would help? For me, even with the bra I had to take the pain meds, use ice sometimes, and most importantly, i propped myself up at a comfy angle, and moved as little as possible. hang in there. it takes time. I'm 9 days out and still really sore.

Bellapam, I do not have personal experience with Expatel, but it is a concentrated form of bupivicaine (local anesthetic) in a sustained release form. I have used similar products though. I'm glad you are doing well post-op!!

I forgot to mention how those crazy nurses told me my tumor had teeth and hair when I first woke up. I wanted to see it, got excited, but they were just kidding about that 😒. So disappointed!

Hope everyone is healing well.

My incision looks good, but I'm still in considerable pain, and now I'm 12 days post op. Anyone else have that? And more concerning, is I have a rock hardness about a full inch or more on some sides, around the incision, deep in my boob. Does that make sense? I know the doc said the incision might be hard, but I don't know if this is normal. I really don't want to go back again! Haha. It wasn't like this at my post op on Thursday.

What do you guys think?

Bellapam - That's hilarious about the tumor with hair and teeth.

MommaBee - I needed a binder for the first week. A sports bra didn't cut it. I think I needed more than "support." I needed compression. Maybe an ace bandage will work?

MommaKat - I'm about the same - 12 days out. During the middle 4-5 days, the pain decreased, but has now increased again. There's no sign of infection or other problems, so I just imagine that some nerve endings are just getting wrapped around some newly healed tissue, pulling and tugging. At least that's what my brain imagines. And yes, my whole excision area is hard. I remember this from my previous excisions, so I think it's pretty normal.
