CNB proven Fibroadenoma being sent to surgeon

10 months ago i had a 1.4 cm CNB biopsy that was a fibroadenoma after a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound.

I was referred back to the breast care center by my pcp for pain/bi-lateral nipple flaking/increased lump size.

After the comprehensive breast exam today by the tech they told me i was going straight to ultrasound and bypassing the repeat diagnostic mammogram.

After the ultrasound i met with the radiologist in the consult room. He told me that it has grown from 1.4 to 2.26 cm in 10 months and that he was referring me to the breast surgeon. I have the appointment tomorrow at 9 am.

Ive been doing some research online and i dont understand why a CNB proven fibroadenoma warrants seeing a breast surgeon?

I wish the radiologist would have told me more information.

Has anyone been referred to a surgeon for a fibroadenoma?

Laurelcrown, from what you wrote it makes sense that your surgeon would like to remove it, just to be on the safe side considering how much it has grown. I hope it goes well for you.
