Tamoxifen, Effexor, and heat/humidity.
Hi y'all!
On 20mgs Tamox and 150mgs of Effexor. Honestly feeling ok with mostly minor, or should I say bearable side effects but.....
I can't be overheated....at all! I use to run, workout and sweat. Now, if my heart rate rises and I start to get hot, I feel awful.
When I started walking/running again after starting the meds....after about 20 minutes, the nausea gets so bad, I'd have to find shade and sit until it passed. Then one day, I thought "So what if I hurl, I'm powering through"! Well, I powered through, while feeling the nausea. Then I started to get lightheaded. Then REALLY dizzy. So dizzy I thought sitting on the side of the road was the best action to take before I passed out.
Whe the sweat starts, the bad side effects start happening.
Now I'm scared. I know I can go back to just walking and taking a break in the shade. I can go to the gym and not work hard so I don't sweat.....but I'm pissed about it!
Honestly, I had one hobby before all this cancer shit started and that was working out and running. I know, find something else to do. But I don't want too. Not only did it keep me in shape, it released all the crap in my head/mind. It was better than any therapy. I just sit around now, staring outside at the beautiful days I'm missing because, God forbid, I sweat and then the waves of nausea and dizziness set in.
I'm thankful summer is over (first time ever) and hoping I'll be able to do more when it's cooler.
I guess I wasn't really asking a question....just wanted it off my chest to some who may understand.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Panacea,
We just wanted to stop by and say we feel your pain! It must be very frustrating to not be able to exercise and get the "out" you've been used to. Hopefully the cooler months will be better for you and you can get right back on track. In the meantime, try not to be so hard on yourself.
We're thinking of you!

I'm so with you. I can always tell when a hot flash is coming. First my heart starts pounding, then I get a wave of nausea, then the hot flash comes on like a tsunami, and then I'm dripping in sweat. I stopped T and Effexor in April. Not sure if this is a carryover or justmenopause. Either way it is miserable. I'm so with you.

I'm not taking Effexor - I am a bit scared to because my previous experience of anti-depressants was BAD. But I am on Tamoxifen and the hot flashes are driving me batty. I get the same: nauseous, lightheaded, feeling like I am having a panic attack. Not so much the sweating, though.
I live in the tropics, and we are coming into summer again. I said last summer that I wasn't sure how many more summers I was going to be able to go through, because the heat has become unbearable when I used to love it.
Frustrating.
