    I'm sorry mommakat :( that really sucks

    I really haven't had any pain at all.. but then again I have a VERY high pain tolerance. As in have had root canals done without local and walked home 2 miles with a hairline fracture on my tibia. And I also have small breasts. Barely a B cup.

    Good call on the second opinion for your histopath Mel. Have fun at the concert!!!! (pretty jealous!)

    I'm feeling better this afternoon. Hopefully that was the worst of it. I've got the girls wrapped up tight! Norco, Advil and ice

    Oh. The PA described my bruising as "fantastical". That made me feel like I wasn't a giant wimp. And have me a small chuckle.

    Hi Ladies,

    I'm done with my mini-vacation

    and back to caregiving for hubby and father.

    Everything seems to have gone well during the surgery and the stretchy binder that they put on me has been wonderful in keeping swelling down and thus, pain under control. I also started taking Arnica Montana tablets as soon as I got home (4 tablets, 4 times a day) and I don't seem to have any bruising. I'm not much of a homeopathic person, but it served me well in a previous surgery when the surgeon recommended it. My biggest issue has been has been a bad sore throat. The doc is going to call me with biopsy results 3-5 days following surgery, so it won't be much longer.

    Oh my gosh mommakat. You are such a trooper. Keep on going with ice packing and pain meds, and hopefully the swelling and pain resolves soon!

    It's good to hear from you again Jamie! I'm glad to year things went well. Hoping for good news on your results!!!

    mommakat, Did the Dr ok you to use Advil? I was advised not to use it the week before and the week after surgery due to it might increase bleeding.

    Jaime, glad you're back and running your household ! Good wishes for your upcoming results. Hope your healing has been uneventful.

    they just cleared me for the Advil today. Said the biggest chance of the bleeding was the first 24 hours. They're hoping it will help with the swelling. So far so good. I've been trying my best to be still today. Hoping a little reduced swelling and as little movement as possible, and hopefully tomorrow I won't be bleeding

    I'm healing well, there are times I forget and stretch and then it bleeds as I've opened it up. I'm doing well though, I did have some weird pain for the first week that I thought could be nerve pain but nothing the last few days. I hope you are all well. I'll let you know what the doctor says after I see him on wednesdsy

    Bibi so for PASH when are they rechecking you? My DD on a screening Mamo/MRI and after biopsy also was found to have PASH, thye told her she could come back in one yr. Ugh these appointments...

    Mommakat smart of you to contact doc asap. Sorry but could I ask you what do you mean by big boobs? I'm thinking for myself.Hope you getting better slowly.

    Mel it is good news!!!!!!!!! Re; the atypia, just from the little I know, I don't think they would play around with atypia. I understand your hesitation with the scars etc… but you would not want this thing lurking there…honestly i don't wanna scare you, i'm just telling you from what I know.

    Mystic, i did feel quite a lot of uncomfortability and some pain after as I said b4, nothing compared to a tooth ache. Can't even imagine dental work the way you did it. WOW.

    Re: Bra – should I buy one beforehand? Sports bra, which one? I've always wanted one ,but I always thought it would not be enough for my breasts, I'm used to wire bras. I'm not so big, but i look bigger because I am only like 5'2. I am a good 34DDD or whatever depending on who measures me.

    Thinking about the cut again, as I said, i do have a feeling he won't be short on it, it's the way that particular breast looks, it was always loopier, so if he will take out a piece from under i could just see it like flop on itself? Weird. Imagine if someone wanting smaller size, I could just tell him why don't you loop it up to a nice C for me?

    Jamie yep it's a good thing to be busy with the mundane.

    38F. I would say definitely get a bra beforehand. I don't want to have it off for even a minute. My incision is along my areola, and the pressure and weight of my boob is just pushing and putting so much pressure on it. I don't know how much she took out, but I can see a dent. I'm still swollen though so I know it will change. We'll see what the future holds, but if I need a anoher removal, I'd hope reduction is an option. THere is no way I'd reconstruct to keep them this big! Lol

    Yeah, i'll go with the flow. Believe me I totally get you. When ladies are trying to go the other way I'm like whaat why don't you call me??? Thanks. The nurse at the biopsy told me about a sports bra company that stars with V...i thinkg, it's a simple name, i can't recall. And I wanna make sure i get the support ;) so... This year I had to change sizes, i went to so many different stores, all recommended, and I'm telling you I am yet to go to a competent fitter.

    for regular working out, I have some sprts bras with wires and they're great. For this, no wires. Just something right that keeps them from moving. I just ordered another from Amazon that is supposed to be good. Wraps form the back and has like 11 hooks in front. Supposed to be good for post op. Comes tomorrow. I'll let you know if it's good

    Oh don't worry, with my bulging and herniated disk from years ago, (nothing to do with age, i missed a step and the rest is HX), anyway, there is no jumping, the most I do is walk kinda fast, sometimes. Thanks, i'll wait for your input.

    mammakat, I can't imagine..ouch. mine looks slightly indented..hopi g it heals well. I only have a D cup and part if my periareolar incision has slightly opened. My fault for probably doing to much and I tried wearing a reg bra. I placed some steri strips and back to the sports bra!

    When I woke up from surgery I was wearing a stretchy binder with velcro in front. If you google 'Expand-A-Band Binder' you will find it. I found it more comfortable to wear than the sports bra that I had planned to wear. No breast movement at all with this binder. Nice soft fabric next to the skin. Size small fit me (36B).

    In fact, I'm still wearing it even though the doc only required that I wear it for 48 hours.

    momallthetime, I haven't seen the actual pathology report so I don't know what type of atypia/hyperplasia it is. From what I read it increases your chances for breast cancer but it may or may not ever become BC. Idk. Once I see the surgeon I will have the report and study up. Plan is for a second opinion anyway..Im in no hurry😉

    I'm sorry all of you ladies are having problems related to the excision site. Mine opened up a little bit too but is otherwise healing. Definitely have a lot of redness and swelling around the incision, but thankfully no pain. For some reason my crohn's has been acting up so that's more than enough pain to be dealing with for now.

    Mel, you meet with your BS tomorrow right??

    hi ladies! Sorry to crash the thread like this, but now I have a question. My excisional biopsy is in two days. I had my pre-op already and got my instructions and special soap, but nobody mentioned bras. I am barely 34B, and my sports bra is kinda complicated so I have to either reach back to hook it or contort a bit to pull the straps over my head after I hook it with the closure turned to the front. I bet that description makes no sense. Anyway, should I just wear my regular wireless bra? It isn't super supportive, but I can at least put it on without contortionist skills. My other options are a dozen wired pushup bras with padding. Those seem inappropriate for post surgery. Thoughts?

    I have to contort to put this one on. Oddly that doesn't really. Other me. I guess it depends on where the incision is? Mine being around my areola isn't really effected by me reaching behind me. I would say no to the underwires. Even though my incision would be clear, I have a ton of bruising and it would definitely bother me. I would get a sports bra. But again, that's just me. A regular bra really wouldn't have cut it

    Hi Bellapam! I am barely a 34B as well. I actually found a zipper-front sportsbra ar Ross the day before surgery. I used it for three days after the procedure and felt very comfortable. It's funny, but a lot of these stores (Ross, TJ Maxx, etc) have a pretty decent variety of sport bras. If you have a few minutes to swing by one before your surgery, you may find something good. Personally, I was pretty uncomfortable with a normal bra on the 5th day after surgery. I stuck to bralettes and those were very comfy as well

    Hope everything goes well! I've read previous posts from you and it seems like your mass is benign, correct?

    bellapam, I suggest a sports bra that zips or hooks in front without the wire. I was lucky the hospital places me in surgery sports bra but I bought a cheap Hanes one at walmart that works perfectly and cheap! I had been to all major dept stores and couldn't find one that was comfortable but snug or without the wire.

    Thanks Mystic! Yes, the core biopsy was benign but I don't like having the lump in there, so I'm giving it up to science. I figured I would keep wondering about it if I left it in, too. Thanks for the suggestions! I saw that same type of sports bra in a shop the other day, but they only had larger sizes. I can always check out a few more places.

    Mommallthetime. I'm not sure what they will recommend for the PASH, I finally see the doctor on Wednesday and haven't heard from him yet, anxious to see what he has to say. I have very small breasts and there's s lot of benign stuff going on. Being told to wait a year for a follow up seems like s long time. They already have me going every 6 months for both mammo and u/s before the PASH diagnosis, breast center is also recommending an mri

    Bellapam I would highly recommend getting a zip front bra, definitely helped me minimize pain and discomfort. Good luck.

    Mel 2nd opinion sounds gr8. I can't believe this suture opened up, and it's in such a sensitive area...ughhh, i prefer he'd not go to the areola way.

    Jamie I looked it up, there are many cos. they are about $40.00? based on what i found out, i'd need a bigger one right?

    Should I ask NP what they give post surgery? I feel so wimpy, my DD had a lumpectomy in her 20's not a peep from her. She would not give IT the time of day. She had drains the whole 9yds.She was def small breasted. So there is a different understanding of what larger breasts are like. I'm not scared, just like to be prepared. BTW - the nurse at the radiologist office told me about a bra she was using, she showed it to me!, the company is Anita and it was wireless, also if i go on that site and follow their instructions, i am actually a 36F.

    any questions that you would think i should ask i'd appreciate it. Thanks so much to all the wonderful ladies here, this is really helpful.

    momallthetime, don't feel wimpy! It's better to be prepared and not need all the extras than to wish you had more items/help available. It's a good idea to touch base with your NP and see what she recommends or what they plan on sending you home with. This way you will have one less "surprise" post-op and can better plan what you will be doing and needing.

    In terms of any other questions, I would focus on specifics if your every day life and ask when you can resume such activities. Also ask when to expect results,a and whether they plan on calling or discussing in person.

    You are no wimp, Momallthetime! It makes sense that a heavier, larger breast would pull more on the incision site and cause more pain and complications. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, but hopefully you will get relief with the more supportive bra. As for me, I may need to look in the tween section for a zip front sports bra, lol.

    One thing that helped me once I got back to normal, was getting a sports bra one size smaller than I usually go for. When you are ready to go out on walks, etc, it helps having something with extra compression. I went with the Nike running sports bras, and they hold everything in place :)

    Bear in mind, need for bra/compression will depend upon where your incision is. Mine was at the outside under my breast in the mammary fold. I was closed with glue since I am allergic to steristrips & I was sent home braless. A bra band would have been pretty much on top of my incision
