Congrats Soxfan! I just started getting peeling under my arm today. I have 8 more treatments. I can still put lotion on and it doesn't hurt much but I'll ask for something tomorrow so I don't have to go the weekend if it does start hurting. I'll update with what they say.

I finished 30 sessions on Tuesday. I am very tired now. As predicted by my RO my skin is very pink. The only place it is sore is under my arm around the area my lymph nodes were removed back in December. So far no blisters but the RO recommended neosporin as well as the aloe gel just in case. She said although radiation is over, my skin will get worse before it gets better.

I'm so happy to be done with 24 weeks of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation, to all of you still going through this, you can do it!!

I'm so jealous Illimae!! Hope today's treatment goes super quick.

My armpit is peeling and is raw from rubbing against itself. They gave me cooling gel pads to use but I just want this to be over. I would love to walk around without a shirt on but I have 3 teenage/young adult boys and people doing window replacement today. I no longer have a shred of modesty left but it would be awkward for them.

    Mamaoz,

I hope you can finish the remaining rads soon.

About fatigue, for the second half, i had sudden sleep coming over no matter how much or little I exercise or eat or sleep or nap.

Nerve pain and the heat will get better after rads are done. I saw less reddishness and felt a lot less pain today. Today is day 8 post rads. I was told 4 wks to heal so my best guess is 3 wks after final rad for you.

    Take care.

    Mimi

    Sisters,

I had an amazing encounter w my eye doctor just now,

I have been going to same place for more than 10 ys, I knew I always have had ms Magoo eyes when she asked me how I waz. I looked at her lymphedema sleeve and recognized what it was for the first time. Turned out she was hit w triple negative 19 yrs ago when she was 32. She had 18 mo old when she had chemo. She is part Korean like me. I felt somewhat of sisterhood because of that, She told me that she could not change dirty diapers even when her baby sat on her face asking to be changed. I am simply awestruck and delighted to meet a long time BC survivor,

My poor skin, ugh. I'm peeling in a couple places and have a blister that I'm keeping an eye on. The reddest spots are sore and sensitive and aloe gel from the fridge cools it down but hopefully it doesn't take too long to heal.

Sorry!!! You're not alone Illimae. The damn peeling and open skin is wearing me down. That and the fact that it is 98 degrees in Michigan at the end of September! My armpit is the worst probably because it rubs there. I'm sure other areaswould be much worse if I had any feeling in my actual breast. I hope you heal quickly!!

    Ouch illimae and Legomaster,

Yes rad scar acted up a little bit. I had two consecutive blisters and two raw spots popped up after rads. It is day 9 for me and all calmed down quite a bit.

Try to take it easy sisters.

I know I sound absolutely crazy but

Rad burns got worse for a week after the last zapping. - sudden blistering and raw spots.  I forgot to moisturize  for the last 24 hrs or so. My raw spots started scabbing and no more raw spots. I remembered to put some Eucerin lotion. I am thinking I should apply something every 8 hrs or so unless some breakout happens.

Thanks Mimi, 7 more days of rads for me. Just need to suck it up for the next couple weeks sounds like. They did give me some hydrogel pads that I put on for a half hour at a time that make me feel better for a little bit. I keep them in the fridge so they are cold. They slide around a lot so I can't only really use them when I'm sitting still. Nit sure if they really help but I'll give it a try.

MamaOz- are you feeling any better? It's been a rough couple weeks for you.

Mimi, I think it's fairly common for the skin to worsen in the two weeks following the final radiation treatment. You'd think that once you're done, things would immediately start to improve, but the opposite is true. Another week and you'll probably see a dramatic change for the better. Good luck!

    Lyn
