Bi-rad 4 with Chek2 mutation
Hello all,
My identical twin sister was recently diagnosed with Stage I breast cancer and positive for Chek2 mutation. I have done genetic screening and I was positive too. The genetic counselor advised me that my mutation gives me 30-35% of breast cancer, but because of my sister, first degree relative diagnosis, I am in 40%-45% risk. I had mma and usg done in August. My counselor also recommended baseline MRI because me and my husband are soon going ahead with ivf procedure. My MRI was yesterday and I got a call today saying I had two changes in left and right breast and they are both bi-rad4. They scheduled USG with biopsy for Monday. Of course, I am freaking out. Given my 45% odds I am scared. Also we went through so much with the infertility. We had it all ivf scheduled and now we may have to postpone it. Anyone had similar situation?
I remember waiting for my sister results and I know the not knowing and waiting is the worst...

I haven't had anything similar, but just wanted to reach out and say I am so sorry that you are here and worried about your breast health and I am so sorry to hear about your dear twin sister! Waiting and worrying is really hard. Try to keep your brain distracted as best you can, you can binge watch Netflix, go for long walks, deep clean something, start a project or recipe that requires attention, or spend time with friends/family. Alternate that with as much relaxation as you can, yoga, warm bath, breathing or meditation, soothing music, etc. Hopefully you'll get the results back from your Monday biopsy by the end of next week. So hoping for b9 results for you!! Warm wishes and gentle ((hugs))

Thank you for all kind words. I really hope its B9. I know 80% turn to be. It has been such a tough year for us, but i know this doesnt matter. I want to be hopeful but also i want to be prepared :

I don't have answers but I'm kind of in a similar boat. I just had ultrasound and Us-guided core biopsies of 3 sites that have come back as "not cancer" (per nurse, have not seen report myself or talked to doctor), but all had papillomas in the sample. I guess I should be relieved but then the next day I found out I tested positive for the CHEK2 mutation. I think MRI and possible excision of the papillomas is on the table but again, the breast specialist doctor I see is out of town so I haven't talked to her yet. The CHEK2 result is making me nervous, and I have a sister who died of a possibly CHEK2 related cancer as well.
Good luck to you with your biopsy on Monday! Let us know how it goes. The biopsy itself was not bad at all - some pressure, and some moderate bruising but very manageable.

Thank you for reply and I am sorry to hear about your sister. I am not too familiar with papillomas, but I agree it would be good to see your doctor. With the new results of CHEK2 (sorry to hear that), maybe doctor will decide to cut it out. Let me know what he says once you meet with him.
