lol. I know on sun my grandson rammed his big head on to my breast as I was laying on the sofa.. I think it startled me more than actually hurt. Teach me to lay on the sofa! I figure when I go back i will just remember to ask for help and use good body mechanics. Sometimes we are busy and we learned all these ways to turn and lift patients by ourselves. I'll be careful not to do that for awhile.

I'm easily impressed with your running..even withiut the surgery. Haha. It's never been my thing. More like a hiking girl than a running girl.😂

haha!! it's crazy how the pain is a lot milder than I expected it. But yes, definitely ask for help when you get back. My first 3-5 days back I really did mostly paperwork.

Are you doing anything else to keep busy?

I am only dealing with the post biopsy, it was maybe like 3 weeks ago, and I feel a bunch of things. Doc thinks it's hormonal. I def feel IT all the time. I cannot imagine going for a jog after this excision? Did you find out if it's ok? But i do give you credit for trying. I tell you I'm so busy with my DD issues, she has MBC, i don't really think of my things. I postponed this yr my Mamo visit, i just could not go with all that is happening. I just had this moment of panic that I'm playing with fire, but now that Radiologist doc said it's ok, it's her problem ;) Well i am back to ok, and just gonna wait it out, there is much cooking to be done.

momallthetime, I did clear it with my dr, she said as long as I kept it gentle and it didn't hurt, I could go for it. I'm sorry you are still experiencing all those scary/frustrating/anxious feelings.

Put all that energy into your cooking!

    mommakat best of luck!

mystic what i meant was dealing with actual feelings in my breast, like it's still sensitive, and sometimes painful. oh well. I was also not told what kind of cut it will be, i assumed it will be at the location, which is below the nipple on the bottom of the breast area, and when I asked if i could have just Versa he said not really, because he considers my breasts large and he might need to move around to make sure nothing is hiding, so he wants me under, i guess so do I!!!

momallthetime my bad! Hope your breast feels a little bit more normal soon. I think we will always have a residual "weird" feeling though. I have it around my thyroidecromy incision and that happened 12 years ago. I wouldn't say it's sensitive, just different.

    Good luck tomorrow momakat!!

momallthetime, there are different incisions depending where the concerned area is and how deep it is. My surgeon the day of surgery, after the wire localization told me he wanted to do a radial line because it was deeper than he originally thought I asked him if it was absolutely necessary and that I preferred a periareolar incision. I think it's important to discuss so that you will be prepared.

I agree it's important to know where incision will be but also understand that could change. I went under thinking I would have the periaerolar but woke up to none of the above incisions. Mine was at the side under my armpit, the lesion was close to the chest wall and I remember thinking he'd have a long way to go if he went in where originally decided, he adjusted plan based on where wire was I just never asked about it before going in so I was surprised when I woke up. It was way worse to recover from than the periaerolar incision I had last year on other breast.

Good luck to those still waiting for results or operations.

Very true Bibi..things do and can change. My surgeon originally discussed periareolar but the day of surgery he wanted to do a radial incision because it would be easier for him and better if I needed a mastectomy later. I was not happy to even be discussing a masectomy later when all they have being doing is reassuring me that it is probably benign. He also felt the periareolar would be more difficult to reach the lesion. We left it as, I would prefer the periareolar and the other incision only if absolutely necessary.

However, he did end up doing periareolar at my request. I understand his job is to remove the lesion, but I am the patient and I have to live with the results of scarring and possible disfurgement of the breast for which the odds are in favor of being benign.

I had also discussed margins, I felt the margin was to large and brought him studies that favored smaller margins. I told him if it turned out to be BC I'd rather go back for re-excision.

The surgeon and you are a team and things should be discussed and planned. I would have been upset if I woke up to a different incision without have been told the possibility beforehand.

    Hope your healing well Bibi.

Thinking of you mamakat! Good wishes for today!

bibi, my incision also fits into the "none of the above".. it's almost between 4 and 5.

I really don't care enough about scaring though. I have collected so many over the years from previous surgeries and accidents and work that it's just one more to add do the collection. Seriously, you should see my arms after dealing with angry cats :)

Good luck today mamakat!!! Hope it all goes well!

Mel, your appointment is tomorrow! Hope you get good news :)

mystic, if I was happily married I would care less about the appearance of breast. However, being single at my age and dating..it shouldn't be an issue but it's is. It is one of the reasons why my ex and I broke up..he just couldn't handle the thought if me being sick or cut into.

I have decided not to call and get results over the phone. It's almost like now I dont want to know..denial at it's finest. I will just get them tomorrow with my follow up appt. I am prepared either way.

Bibi how are you doing? Thank you so much for this wonderful explanation. First I must say Mel, such guy was never worth your trouble, so sorry. One hears such stories more than we want. I'll ask next week the PA what's the plan, i have a feeling with my fam HX and my bigger breast (he told me already that he'll have to dig), he's gonna wanna make sure. It's under the fold, so I'm a bit concerned if he takes out a piece, and that breast being loopy already, what's gonna look like. Of course I could live with it but...and I tell you i;m in no mood of plastic surgeries and recuperations etc.. i gotta be on call all the time for my daughter. With mets like she has, there is always something going on, so if i could make do i will. I'll tell my hubby to look the other way. He's already so scared of the whole thing...

Mel I hope you come back with gr8 news. I'll check back after the Holidays. Take good care everyone!!!

    Hi Ladies,

The surgery went well. I was calm and relaxed before and slipped peacefully asleep. Woke up panicked for a tissue for some reason. Lol. Other than that, uneventful.

I don't know what incision she ended up making. She wasn't sure at our consult cause of my big boons and where the area of concern was. I'll see in 2 days when o take the bandages off I guess. Most of the lower half and some outside edge of my boob is covered. Definitely something by my nipple e at least as I saw some blood there.

Pain is ok-ish. Needed iv diaudid right after in recovery and oxy for the 2nd part of the recovery in the hospital. It felt like my nipple has a flame torch being held on it.

Have Norco at home. Took it once and will again at bed time. Maybe tomorrow Tylenol will be enough. It's not so bad.

And now the hard part. Waiting for the results. My appt isn't until next Thursday. I don't really have the best feeling, if I'm being honest. And that's ok. I'm kind of expecting not benign results. Haven't told anyone on real life that but that's what my gut tells me. But we'll see. A whoooolllllleeee week away.

Thanks ladies for this group and thread. It's been so good to have you going through this with me.

Hope you're all healing well and here's to good results for everyone!

    X

Mommakat, good to hear from you! Hope the pain is under better control tomorrow. I had a really bad feeling about my results as well and was pleasantly surprised (as was my BS!) at the end. Hopefully it's the same for you! Try finding something to keep busy until then... although I know that is easier said than done.

Hi ladies, I got the results over the phone. There was a scheduling error so I wouldn't be seen until Monday so I asked that he call back with results. He called when I was getting my eyelash extensions so I really couldn't talk but I did answer the call.

Good news-it was confirmed the lesion was a papillary lesion, no cancer in the lesion itself.

Bad news- part of the margin showed atypia so they want to go back and re-excise. He says there still might be BC lurking.

That's all I know, wasnt exactly what I wanted to hear but it is what it is.

I don't know if I want to do a re-excision. I will think about it over the weekend and discuss with him on monday. He said that I would have to heal first and do a mammogram but I am going to request an breast MRI.

The logical side says to do it as quickly as possible so that I will have met my out of pocket for insurance purposes. But I just dont know. Wont have access to the full pathology report until monday.

Mammakat, wishing you a speedy recovery and good results!

Oh Mel I'm so sorry you have to go back in! Hopefully there is nothing other than atypia in there. Did your doc say anything about how soon he would like to schedule the re-excision?

One of my margins came back clean but containing normal florid hyperplasia. My doc just wants to monitor this site for now.

Take all the time you need to think about things and make an educated decision on Monday after you sit down with your doc!

    hi Ladies,

Wondering how much bleeding you had the day after surgery. I just got changed and took my bra off to freshen up. There's a lot more bright red still wet blood there than yesterday. I'd say the dressing is 75%soaked through. I called the doc already. Waiting to hear back. I know the post op instructions said report any bright red discharge. Wondering how much might be normal.

    Thanks

I only had a dime size on a gauze that was covering my nipple in the first day.

Sounds a bit excessive. Hopefully , they call back soon, a follow up may be necessary.

Same here. Only had a small amount on my bandage. I did have it seep through my bra once though, but it was never as much as you're describing. Have you gotten a hold of your doc

back home. Survived. Barely. There was a clot coming out form the incision. She had to remove that and apply tons of pressure to stop the bleeding. That felt awesome. Thought I might need another stitch but was able to stop it and pt 2 more steri strips over the spot. Dear lord it hurt. I'm so bruised and swollen. Took another Vicodin and hoping to sleep now.

Thanks for asking momallthetime, I'm doing good I can finally wear a normal bra lol. Still a little swollen but looks to be healing well. My doctor still hasn't called although I know he has had results since last Friday as that's when I got them in the app. If I hadn't read thrm and seen benign myself I'd be freaking out by now! I see him next Wednesday so will discuss all the benign findings and PASH then. I also had a copy sent to my OB/GYN to get their opinion.

MommakatGlad your surgery went well, hope the bleeding is under control. I didn't have s lot of bleeding. Initial bandage had some but then I was fine.

Mel sorry to hear that your doctor recommends having more surgery, let us know how you get on on at the next appointment.

thanks bibi. Somehow I missed that you had pash in your results. I have that too, from my CNB results. And a whole host of other benign craziness going on. Have another week until my final results. I can't believe your doctor hasn't called you. That makes me crazy! Don't they know we're on the edge waiting?

mommakat, did they discuss the PASH with you yet. Good luck with your results. I would be going nuts if I hadn't seen the report in the app, just not sure why he hasn'tcalled last year he called as soon as results came in.

Not really. The original consult with my surgeon was made because my gynecologist saw the pash results and thought I should have her check. Then the radiologist recommended the excisional biopsy because she felt the results were discordant with what she saw on the images. So. I guess that trumped the original pash discussion. Guess we'll talk about all of this next Thursday. Don't know how I'm gonna wait a whole week!!!

How are you feeling today mommakat? It really sucks you had issues with your incision :( Maybe you can call the doc Mon-Tues and see if there is an update so you don't have to wait until Thursday?

Bibi- how is the healing going? First time I wore a normal bra after surgery I really regret it lol. Good luck with your appointment! Let us know what they say!!

another rough day. I was back at the doc again. Still bleeding. And they were conceded that I was developing a hematoma. All clear. Spent the day as still as possible so hopefully I won't bleed again. They said between my big boobs to start with plus the swelling, it's just heavy and pulling on the incision. Almost passed out on her office. What a morning!

I give all these women who have multiple surgeries so much credit.

mommakat..are you wearing a compression bra? Or Tight sports bra? Something to keep the girls in place?Im a 34 D and the sports bra has been wonderful, along with the small the ice packs.

Bibi, mystic..are you girls experiencing any nerve pain? I actually took a Norco last night I've had what I can only explain as nerve pain..not tender or sore but sharp stinging pains.

I've decided to ask for a second opinion on the pathology report and with another surgeon before I decide on re-excision. Along with a request for breast MRI. Other than that Ive put it out of my mind and plan to enjoy this weekend. Headed off to see Tom Petty in concert tonight!

Hope all you ladies are doing well!
