CA 27.29 Elevated, Scans Negative

I had bilateral mx with DIEP reconstruction in 2015 with ILC in both breast. The left tumor was er, pr hormone positive, HERS neg and the right tumor was triple negative. Had TC chemo and have been on letrozole since.

My CA 27.29 levels have always been normal until this pass test. My level increased from 29 four months ago to 791 last week. Had CT scan of chest, abdomen, and pelvic area and a bone scan. All are negative. MO is going to retest my CA 27.29 at the end of the month.

This is so nerve racking to think I have cancer cells in my body and nothing is showing up yet. If I have breast cancer mets I want to start treatment as soon as possible. I am sure it is the TN cancer.

Has anyone else experienced this in the past? What happened in your case? I am really stressed out right now. Trying to stay calm but just feel I will end up with TN mets somewhere.

    I had something similar happened to me as well. I started with hightumor markers, had surgery and went down. Then four months later they went from 22 to 66. Three months later they were back to normal. Oncologist told me that lots of things can cause tumor markers to rise.

    Thanks Les123. I was hoping for something different other than recurrence but was not the case. My ILC TN has shown up in my liver. Started treatment Sept 8th on Carbo and Gemzar.
