Well, I have my first thieves oil lozenge in my mouth. I don't have any sores, but my tongue has been hurting this round, and the lozenge is making that feel better. I have also had a terrible taste in my mouth, and it is helping with that, too. And since it is sugar free, I can have one before bed and not have to brush my teeth, leaving whatever healing properties there are to work their magic at night.

The strongest flavors I taste are clove and lemon, with a touch of eucalyptus. I like it

Kimber - For my dry nose, I did a Neti pot rinse 2X a day and put a little petroleum jelly in nasal passages. That helped me a lot! Let me know if you need more info on the Neti.

Kimber - if you get the neti pot, remember to use filtered water only and 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt per cup of lukewarm water. Check the temp on your wrist like you would a baby bottle. It takes a few tries to get the head angle right so it doesn't immediately go down your throat. Oh and do this over the sink. I give it a little sniff while there is still water in my nose to get it up in the sinuses a bit. Then I blow gently into a tissue/TP. Then dab some vaseline. I hope this works for you!!

    Hi, mybct,

I got a toothbrush with a really small head and soft bristles, and that really helped. I don’t know what to say about the black when rinsing-didn’t happen to me. I did have awful mouth sores fo a couple of my chemo rounds-worst side effect, hands down.

    Take care,

I don't think it has been mentioned in this thread, but I've talked about it elsewhere, Witch Hazel was amazing for me during chemo. I don't know if Tom's still makes it, but before I'd started, I had read a recommendation for their baking soda mouthwash which at that time also contained witch hazel. I used it a few times a day during treatment and the only time I recall ever getting a bad mouth sore was when I ran out of it, at which point I was on the magic mouthwash that helped only a bit by numbing. What I then did was take a q-tip with some witch hazel on it and dab it on the sore - it helped keep the swelling and inflammation down. Unfortunately I think Tom's baking soda mouthwash no longer contains the witch hazel, but I wonder if there are other formulations out there or recipes for it. I swore by it.

(witch hazel was also good for other sore areas during treatment - it was also recommended to me to pour a bottle into a container of unscented baby wipes too which helped in that regard)
