I actually am just recovering from my second round of fat grafting. I'm actually a great "test case" as my right breast was not previously radiated, but my left was in 2004-2005. I actually choose implant reconstruction after my bilateral mastectomy as I'm not a great candidate for a flap. I can tell you that while yes, there is a difference between the radiated and the non-radiated breast, both look and feel great! I will need probably one more round of fat grafting on the radiated side but, I'm very happy with the results and am confident we will achieve really good results when done. It's also interesting that the non-radiated nipple and skin has always maintained sensation even after being lifted to achieve symmetry. The radiated side is slowly regaining sensation.

Calamityjane, glad to hear your happy with results. I am curious if insurance covers multiple fat grafting. Is there a limit?

Calamityjane12 I would be interested in talking with you - I am in this situation now.

I am hoping I can do mx to immediate implants.

Can you give me any more specific information on your Dr. and any different follow up care to consider ?

Thank you ! So glad I saw this post !

I had radiation 17 years ago. Had a recurrance and had a bi-mx in April. Just last week I had my surgery to swap out my expanders for my implants. So far, so good.

check out my timeline in my signature. Had BMX with expanders. Swapped expanders with implants. Had radiation... all back in 2015. Results aren’t bad, but I want improvement and plan to do a Lat Dorsi flap + expander and eventually implant on the radiated side in 2018. This is with a second PS. Not sure why it was not given as an option by the first PS.
