I found a lump in my right breast on Monday, GP confirmed but did not say much, said she would arrange mammogram. Wednesday morning i received an appointment for the Consultant Surgeon at local hospital, normally you would have had the mammogram first then if anything wrong the consultant. Can anyone help me please

They may wish to just get a medical history on you.  You won't necessarily see a surgeon, it could be a nurse practitioner,  but the facility needs to be capable of performing the mammogram.  Either they or your gp will let you know the results.

When my PCP confirmed my lump, I was given referrals for the mammo and surgeon. Perhaps, the surgeons office had immediate openings for consultations. In my case, I put off the surgeon until I completed the mammo, ultrasound and biopsy, as I felt there were too many unknowns to even discuss surgery.
