Oh no Mel!! I hope your car is not too damaged, but I'm glad you didn't have any significant injuries. I hope you are able to get a rental (or maybe an Uber post op??). Trying to climb into a tall truck is not going to be all that easy when you are half asleep.

The morning of is pretty much full of anxiety, but it goes by really quickly. It is all really over before you know it :)

I think the part that took the longest for me was the payment and signing of all the papers... I did part of it over the phone but there was more to do in person. If it helps I can tell you what the process was like for me.

I got to the radiology facility, signed some papers, stripped off my top, and a nurse located my mass with ultrasound. She then got the radiologist who used like 10cc's lido for local anesthetic, and then placed the wire into the mass. It really just feels like some pressure along the breast. Less sensation than CNB. Then they did two view mammo, gave me the images, and they wheel chaired me down to the car and we drove to the sx center. I payed the deductible and signed aaaaalllll the forms, then waited in the reception area for what felt like forever. Finally went back to pre-op, took a pregnancy test (I had peed just like 20 mins before then, so I wish I had been warned about it!) and got IV catheter placed. After getting settled my hubby and mom were brought back into pre-op. We waited like 30 mins before I was finally wheeled off into the OR. Next thing I remember is waking up in recovery.

I really haven't been in pain at all. I went back to work yesterday but only had two procedures so I went back home to keep recovering. Today has been a little more challenging. I'm used to help restrain the big animals and carry them back and forth, so having to take a step back and focus on paperwork kind of makes my brain hurt. But yes, I should be getting the call tomorrow. Every time my phone rings today I have a mini heart attack.. haha.

i know things will go well for you!! It's tough going through so much all at once, but you're strong!!

    Hi Ladies,

I have been reading this post for some time ... and I would like to share my story with you.

I did my first mammo in January this year, February returned for ultrasound. In march I did two stereotactic biopsies and they located Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia on my left breast, Flat Epithelial Atypia on my right breast and the third biopsy (second on my right breast) which occurred in May was benign breast tissue with multifocal sclerosing adenosis/tubular adenosis which was falsely mimicking a tubular carcinoma.

I have scheduled my surgery for October 10th.

My job requires lifting more than 20lbs so I took two weeks off, maybe is too much for the recovery but I can openly say I am blessed and have a HUGE support from my boss and he is willing to help me in any way.

I'm afraid and stressed like all of you. I need some support too and can not wait for the results after the surgery in October.

I have a question to all of you about the wiring before the surgery, what's the feeling? Does it hurt? My doctor say from other patients experience feels like a pinch, well I say is not on his skin so maybe that's why 😩

Keep your positive thoughts and God bless you

I had an excisional biopsy on my left breast Friday to remove a cluster of microcalcifications that had changed in my June mammo since my December tests. Some background I had a ductal excision on my right breast last summer after some bleeding from the nipple sent me to the doctor. I had mammo, US and galactrogram then breast center recommended duct excision. Once surgeon went in he removed all milk ducts as he saw old infection from mastitis/abscess from 7 years earlier . Tests came back papilloma and atypia which he wasn't worried about as he'd removed all ducts. Waiting now for pathology from latest biopsy, they removed a 5mm lesion containing cluster of microcalcifications, in June it was measured at 4mm. I chose to put off biopsy as I wasn't worried and thought we could wait and repeat tests in 6 months. Surgeon and breast center did not recommend waiting so I had surgery. In reading my reports I discovered I have a number of things all benign, PASH, fibrosis adenosis, flat epithelial atypia, dense breast tissue They bent 2 wires on Friday trying to locate area for biopsy! I guess even if my results are benign I'm wondering when I should be concerned with all this going on and having increased risk for bc. I do not want to be having testing every 6 months and biopsies yearly.

    Any input appreciated.

Thanks Mystic88. I arrive at the radiology at 730, then drive across the street to the hospital. All paper work is signed, so hopefully it will go fast. Surgery is scheduled for 1030. They already gave me an estimate of what I'll have to pay the hospital, almost $2000, not including what ever I get stuck with for anesthesia! Eagar to talk to the anesthesiologist, I was a difficult intubation during my last procedure and I had severe post op myalgia from the succhincholine.

I'm so glad you haven't been in pain! One can never tell..I have given birth naturally but I can remember howling for a toothache! I shall see!

No swelling? Is a sports bra necessary?

I'm sure it feels good to get back to work even if the paperwork is making your head hurt 🤤.

Hi Goga, sorry you're going through this! I can't imagine waiting till October!

Your fortunate to be able to take 2 weeks off. I also do lifting, surgeon said a few weeks? I will find out on friday. I'm hoping for at least 2 weeks. I think emotionally I need it.

I'm hoping the wire placement is fast and easy. My lump is easily found on ultrasound so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Good thoughts for all of us!

Bibi, that is a lot going on with your breasts! I can't imagine!

With dense breast, I would opt for ultrasound every 6 month rather than exposing myself to more radiation with mammogram every 6 months. That's a tough place to be.

And I'm cringing at the two bent wires!🤐

    Thank you Mel1969. ❤️

This waiting is killing me!!!! When at work I try to keep my mind busy, at home is the same-watching movies-anything.. so i will not think about October. BUT, in the back of my mind I'm getting crazy!

    It shall pass fast.

Mel- I had to pay about the same (plus path, plus everything else...) but I really have had minimal swelling. I wore a front zipping sports bra just because it was comfortable, but it was kind of big and offered minimal to no compression.

Anyway, my dr called last night and said there was no malignancy! Yay!!!!!! Just a papillary lesion with some ADH! I go for a re-check tomorrow so we can plan future diagnostics. I'm so glad there was nothing else hiding in there!

Bibi- the sensation for the wire placement is really similar to that of a CNB. You just feel some pressure and that's about it.

Goga- we all know how awful the waiting is. I have binged sooooo much on Netflix to help pass the time. It's hard to focus on anything else. One thing that helped me was thinking to myself that they (drs) would probably be moving along a lot faster if they were really concerned I had something bad going on. The support here really helped as well :)

Great news for you mystic88!!! Let there not be any diagnosis in the future and may God bless you 😊

Mystic88, I have been reading about the wiring and as many patients went through that many opinions there is. My question to you is did you have anesthesia for wiring? My doctor said I'm not getting it!!!

Mystic88, they didn't know it was a papillary lesion from the core biopsy? I already know I have a papillary lesion. They just want to make sure there is no cancer lurking in, under or around the lesion as in almost 25 % of cases.

I'm glad everything was benign! Whew, sigh of relief.

I'll be working alog of overtime to pay for this expense!! 🤗

Thanks MTwoman! I really appreciate all of your support! I was definitely concerned after speaking with Dr. Lagios and him saying the atypia was not typical. He still thinks I have a high risk for future BC, but for now I take a deep breath. Now to find a neurologist and figure out the prolactinoma...

goga, I just had the wiring and I was given lidocaine to numb the area. Since the first wire bent due to my extremely dense tissue, I was then given more, then that wire bent but I was numb enough so I didn't get anymore, they finally got the 3rd wire in the correct spot but that one did hurt and brought tears to my eyes. The wire going in was the worst part of the day and I hope I never have to have it done again.

Great news mystic. Good luck with the prolactinoma.

OMG Mel, I so did not see your earlier post!!! But yes, the final biopsy showed it to be a papillary lesion with ADH.

Did you get your car situation figured out?? It's almost time!!

And Goga- yes, they placed a lot of local anesthetic for the wire, but it was not done under general. You will probably get some local as well. It is not painful at all!

It feels good to see you ladies moving ahead!

    Great news Mystic!

9/20 is my day, finally. I'm having so much breast and shoulder pain lately, and I've developed bronchitis. So I've had moments where I'm thinking the worst of course.

Less than a week to go. Then a week to wait for the results. I have my appt with the PA. The BS had said to me, if the appt gets switched to meet with her, then to bring my husband. I hadn't really thought about that scenario...seems like a cruel thing! I don't know what I would do if they called and said I was meeting with the surgeon, ie bad results, and then had to wait for a few days!

    Agh. Waiting is terrible!

Sending good vibes and prayers for all of you, for easy waiting, painless procedures and good results!

Horrible to have to wait, I specifically asked the surgeon for results over the phone. Wouldn't be able to process or ask the proper questions if I went to office and was given bad news. I'd rather it be done on phone so I can have time to process it.

Momma- the waiting really really sucks. I'm sorry to hear you developed bronchitis on top of all this. Hopefully it clears up quickly! I agree with Mel, tell your BS you are ok with phone results. It decreases the waiting a little bit

I wish!! I'm so groggy. I have a full house and a bed frame that was delivered was damaged so I was dealing with that.. bad timing.. it doesn't end sometimes. Lol.

I sent someone for the Norco, I'm tender with a few shooting nerve type pain here and there but very tolerable. Placed some ice and the hospital gave me a surgical sports bra so I'll save mine for tomorrow.

The surgeon told the staff I was a nurse so I got the VIP treatment. I usually don't say nothing ..

Surgeon really wanted to do a linear line due to where it was.. and he said in case later if it was malignant it would be better for mastectomy. Kinda freaked me out. I told him I prefer a periareolar incision for cosmetic reasons and reminded him that the lesion is probably benign and I would rather have small margins and if it was necessary than I would do re-excision if it was malignant....all that and I haven't taken a peek yet under the dressing. 🤣

    Hope your healing well..mystic

I'm glad you're doing well Mel!! I can't believe how much has accumulated for you all at once. You're such a trooper!! So you got the periareolar then??

I'm healing well, I'm bruised all over but that's about it.

Hope you get results soon! And that it's just benign!
