shelabela, I think some of the differences are because you are in the U.S. and I am in Canada. Was your SNB positive for cancer? I see you had the Axillary as well. And was the Mastectomy the same day? I am glad you don't have much longer to wait for RADS, but am sure it has you on edge. I really hope it goes well.

got my PT eval today. ROM is good but i need to see her for strengthening.no signs of lymphedema. she did give me a sheet about lymphedema precautions.no iv,bp,manicure,etc... plus i will get fitted for a sleeve for airplane rides.she did tell me that she still has to see a patient who does not complain of pain/ discomfort fromTEs!!! so ladies we are not alone. seems like most people hate Tes.lol have a nice day everyone

    Gigi,

sorry you are having pain. on my first week follow up with my PS i also broke down in tears.. the pain was so bad that i regretted having recon. it will get a little better in time but it is still painful for me. i cried and cried the first few weeks after bmx coz of the TEs. i even thought of having them removed. my PS refilled my percocet but i just toughed it out bec i am afraid of being dependent on it. i also have the iron bra feeling. plus i have side effects from chemo,too... also,if i take a deep breath, the muscle between my sternum hurts. it hurts when i get up from bed. i still cannot lie on my side.. majority say though that the exchange will be a lot better. sorry for your pain and i completely understand you...gentle hugs to you...

    gigi,

the drain removal will also help with the pain.i also had a wound vac which made the pain even worse... i also cried to my PCP and he gave me prozac but did not continue taking them bec of SEs..also when you are released by your PS, doing stretches will help too..

Hello, everyone. I have an update on my diagnosis, as the pathology report on hormone receptors just came in this morning, after eight weeks. When I went I was expecting the diagnosis; it is triple-negative. I am to have to have SN/AN biopsy on Wednesday, and then I supposed it will be a while before I hear those results. I will be checking out TN chat forums, but will keep this page updated. I do not know how to change the information about my diagnosis, so if anyone can tell me that, I would very much appreciate it. And thank you, all, for the support you have been. Hugs.

53nancy, go to the top of the breastcancer.org home page, look on the right, and click "My Profile." On the new page that pops up, click "My Diagnoses" and just start filling in the blanks with your info. ALSO note the message to the right of the "My Diagnoses" tab. Your info is kept private unless you change your setting to make it public. Then the info will begin appearing with all your posts.

AliceAgnes, thank you very much for your help. I hope that you will come through your cancer journey with flying colours. It is something I have thought about but never thought would happen, especially a Triple Negative, so I have had my eyes opened and am so thankful for the support on this forum.

Thank you very much, shelabela. I will do that. I have been simply amazed at the outpouring of support from family and friends as I called them yesterday. And found that some of them have experienced their own cancer journey, and we did not know, but some were before we met them. I hope that your treatments go very well, and am thinking of everyone. Hugs.

Gigilala, it has been a stressful weekend for us because of a friend's death and attending the funeral. But I have had so much support from friends who know of my diagnosis. There are still tears, but I am trying for one positive thought every day and carrying it with me all day long. Saw my docotor and was told that my bloodwork and kidney/liver function are good. Was told to up intake of Iron because of an episode of anemia last year, so I am as healthy as I can be. Trying to "starve the cancer cells" with no carbs, no sugars, good fruits and vegetables, etc. My lymph nodes (sentinel/axillary) is on Wednesday, and I am told it may take several weeks to get results. So - back to the waiting game. Positive thought - one day at a time. Now with a Triple Negative Diagnosis, it is a little more scary but - one day at a time. Good luck with your first fill next Thursday and with keeping your pain down. Hugs.

Gigi, yay for getting the drains out! They're awful and such a relief to get rid of.

Kae, My surgical oncologist told me that I'd be able to go to work 3 weeks after BMX. And the medical oncologist told me I'd have no problem working through chemo. Like the day after. Ha! I think they lie so you don't chicken out of these treatments and surgeries. I had my first chemo on Friday and today is the first day that I feel like a human.

    Shel, how is radiation going?

shelabela, i have been very tired and have had diarrhea since Saturday. Every day it seems to get a little better. I didn't have any nausea, but the stomach cramping is not fun. Other than that, I've been ok.

Nancy, good luck tomorrow! Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the SNB results. They told me as soon as I was out of surgery. I did have to wait 2 weeks for final pathology, but they were able to tell me that they couldn't see any cancer in the lymph nodes right after surgery

Hi Sheabela, I was just re-reading some posts - and saw that you had Shingles. I'm so sorry!  I've had shingles twice. first time when I was a teenager (40+ years ago) and again about 3 years ago.  This last time left shingle nerve damage, which is making wearing the binder after BMX very painful.  I have to wear a t-shirt under the binder.  Even before surgery it was difficult to wear a bra and had to wear shirts in-side-out because even the seams caused pain.   I am hoping you recover without nerve damage.  I can't imagine Shingles on top of surgery.  Take care.

Node surgery today went well. Pathology report will take a while but surgeon said beforehand he thought it would be clear, and the recovery room nurses said he only took one node. So, good news at this point and keeping fingers crossed. Next steps will be chemo and radiation. How are all of you doing

Shelabela, I don't know about chemo yet. I see the surgeon in three or four weeks, but know he has already referred me to CancerCare here in our Province. They will decide the course of treatment, but he seems to think it will be chemo first. I will do my best to be as ready as I can be. There was some bleeding overnight but saw my doctor this morning and he changed the bandage and said to keep it on until the strips are ready to come off, in a week. How are YOU doing? Keeping fingers crossed your radiation treatments will go well.

Kae, hope all goes well today.

    Nancy,

I am doing ok! Went and had a massage today and she really worked over my under arm area. but it felt so good. My surgeon and PS called me boring in the aspect that I haven't had any problems. I hope thought that was a good thing. LOL. I am expanded to the size I want to be after rads on the right side and the left side is so much bigger.
