Should you research who does a core needle biopsy?
Should I be researching the radiologist who will do this or is it ok to take first available?
I have to have a core needle biopsy done and it is scheduled for tomorrow. I scheduled the breast center's first available but now I'm wondering if I should be selecting someone specifically because I don't want a mistake or a repeat but I also want to limit my days of worrying

I did not research as mine was done within a half hour of my mammogram, and immediately after ultrasound. I did end up getting the department head though. They are all highly trained and if it is ultrasound guided you can actually see what is going on. I could see the mass and the needle going into it. No mistake there and unfortunately very positive results. Personally, I would just go with first available to get results quicker I am sure people have good and bad experiences with every doctor and you never know the circumstances.

Legomaster,
Thank you so much for that feedback. It really helps. It's hard to not second guess everything I'm doing. I'm so sorry for the outcome you had but grateful that it was found both times. I hope your treatment is going well. Sounds like it has been such a difficult year

I didn't research mine, didn't even occur to me to do that. I just wanted it done ASAP. If you trust the center or hospital, I think that's good enough. Even after the radiologist, then you have the pathologists who check the results. It seems to me that several people were involved in reading my results, so I feel pretty good. Hang in there. Waiting is hard. My waiting journey started in June with tests, July with biopsies, and now I'm waiting for a surgical biopsy next week, so I'm well versed in waiting! Good luck tomorrow! Keep us posted!

Thanks, mommakat. I hope your surgical biopsy goes well next week. Waiting is really hard, isn't it? As much as you tell yourself to try not to think about it...

I had FNBs (Fine Needle Biopsies) and they were immediately done by the Radiologist at the Radiology Clinic. Didn't think about "doing research" on the Dr doing it as time was of the esssence. I had seen my PA at 11 that day for an enlarged lymph node that had appeared a week before and she got me in for a new mammo at 1 that afternoon. It quickly turned in to also an US and the Dr coming in and saying need to biopsy. So I walked out of there at 3 after the FNBs and he called me the next morning at 8 with the path. report - as he expected IBC.
So no - I did no "research" on him - he was great as far as I am concerned!
