Hello

I will be starting chemo at City of Hope. I would like to hear about your experience.l will have DD AC-T.. Will l be allowed to ice during treatment? Did you feel like a number rather than a patient? Were the nurses caring and attentive? I am so scared, l meet with MO Wednesday for all the wonderful detail(not). Please do not hold back l want to know good and bad.. Thanks in advance for your input.. Also please chime in if you were not treated there but know of someone who received care there.. So far l have been more than pleased with my care(bmx with recon).

    Hey CA,

I'm a City of Hope (COH) patient. I did my chemo at the South Pasadena office, and my surgery at the main Duarte campus.

My experience with COH has been overwhelmingly positive. The nurses are amazing, the doctors are great, and the support staff are well trained and very caring.

Where wiil you be doing your chemo?

Don't be scared, sweetie. It's much easier than it used to be. They have great medications to help with the side effects. Make sure you ask them ti give every antinausea medication they've got in your premeds. And remember to hydrate hydrate, hydrate! It makes a huge difference. Tell your nurses if you're having any side effects, no matter how minor. They are there to help.

You can do this. The anticipation is much worse than the actual chemo.

    Good luck.

Forgot to say that I didn't do icing. I lost my hair, wore some really cute wigs and now my short, curly hair is a lovely shade of purple.
