soxfan75 that cream sounds interesting but all he approves of is the Kenalog cream. I'm wondering when I will be able to try other stuff it I am tolerating rads well. It varies from day to day. Earlier this week I was having a lot of burning but the last 2 days hardly any pain at all. I'm just a bit tired. I don't feel like doing anything after work and am falling behind on household essentials.
Everyone in the south do take care with the storm and get it if there. I will be checking in and praying for you al

Woohoo LeesaD!! Way to go!! I'm not far behind you, completed 21 of 25 today, will have my final on Wednesday. Good luck on the remainder of your journey.
-
Thanks, Lin. I'm going to have to try some variation on that because it's not practical to strip completely 2-4 times in addition to my daily shower.
I expected my shoulder and lower back to be unhappy with radiation, but I didn't expect my non-treatment breast to be painful. That breast was considerably more swollen following reduction surgery. I'm doing prone position and the tissue seems to be protesting being mashed down.

VLH, yes, it does sounds like we're in the same system, Texas Oncology. I'm in the Grapevine location. I just pull off tee shirt and spray the green tea, air dry, it will stain clothing if you're not careful. (The tannins in tea are known to natural dyers as a great dye assist.) I had same concerns as you about seeing how the beams were missing my heart and lungs.
-
LeesaD - Congratulations on your last treatment!!!
Everyone in the path of the hurricane, prayers for your safety!
-
Congrats Leesa!
Completed 20/30 today. Last night I woke with a terrible sore throat but I soothed it with a popcicle and it felt better, I'm told that is a common reaction with rads to the neck area due to a positive supraclavicular node. I have 5 more regular and 5 boosts, can't wait to be done.
-
LeesaD: Congratulations on finishing
-
14/16 done. I will finish next week too
-
Congratulations LeesaD!
Wishing everyone in FL the best. Let us know how you fare.
-
LeesaD, Congrats!!! Let us know about how you cope w hormonal therapy. I am the most anxious about the pill👹
Irma is making people crazy in FL. Waiting for gas pump to pull in. Majority was patient but a few right behind me cut lines. We shall see. Nothing is worth my life.

Riding it out in Clearwater.

I wish you all the best in Florida. Please be careful, desperate people are often more dangerous than whatever is causing the fear.
-
You are so right, we feel prepared for the "opportunist".

Completed 13 of 20. Rads cancelled Friday and Monday due to Irma. I'm in Miami. MamaOz- I'm treated at the Miami Cancer Institute. I was told they are planning on resuming treatments on Tuesday, but I have to call in to confirm. Enjoying the long weekend break from rads. The way it looks now I anticipate they will reopen as planned. I had to evacuate as we live less than a mile from the ocean. We found a hotel with automatic generator power so will have A/C throughout. Luckily it's near the Cancer Institute too. I feel bad that my DH had to do so much of the prep, as I was so fatigued. But all is good now, have made to order breakfast here, napped for 3 hours, and snacking on lots of healthy treats. I'm now experiencing nerve pain by my lymph node incision. Hope it's not permanent. It hurts when I touch the area. Did simulation on Thursday for boosts. RO said they usually zap by incision but that can't be a guide in my case as incision(around my nipple) is not near my tumor site. So have lots of marker and tape on me. Rather that than tattoos any day. All my Florida sisters - stay safe, try to relax.

Mimie, Mamaoz, Twills and anyone else in FL hope everyone escaped only w some rain.
Can't complain because other than power and minor water damage we are OK.Walked around inside of the gate which got rid of cabin fever.

We're ok, no power and some minor roof damage. Trees down in neighborhood but it is so much better than it almost was. Ready to start rads again so I can be done!!
-
We are ok, no power, and downed trees, but no damage. Traffic is crazy in Miami, glad DH offered to take me to work and Rads until things normalize. I'm grateful for everything. We will continue to stay in the hotel with power and most importantly AC. Have a mini kitchen and have gotten very creative. Rads resume tomorrow, really can't wait to finish this phase. Much luck to the other Florida gals, as Irma touched every part of this state

It's great to see everyone progressing through their treatment plan. Special caring thoughts to those of you in Florida and surrounding areas.
I'm thrilled to share that the Voltaren topical gel helped with the shoulder pain for today's treatment. It was still uncomfortable and my upper arm was trembling, but a great relief compared to Friday's excruciating pain. A nice lady in the waiting room commented on how much better I looked today. I suspect that I looked pale & shaky last week.

mimi, small world! I was usually there between 11:30 -1 perhaps weve seen each other...
Our house is in upper keys , tavernier, I evacuated andam up in NY. With my daughter and younger son
My husband and older son stayed , they are ok as is house!! but major tree damage , no power etc we are fortunate .. plus no flooding in our neighborhood return to keys is not possible yet.. its blockaded.
My husband said its like a war zone
. I will try talk to my RO about my choices I still need 8 more.. but am not flying back until I can get home and theres power then theres the gas issue for driving back and forth an 1hour & 1/2 each day.. I may ask what hotel your in if I come back and cant get back home yet....twills reba , mimie best to you ,
-
What a nightmare MamaOz, but glad you have minimal damage. We're good here, just got power back on last night.
-
Twills, Mamaoz and Mimie
Glad all of us are OK.
Funny we take so many things for granted. No power No cell coverage minimal water pressure. It is really hot though. Very few business open. Trying to cancel all the appointments for now.
Temporary refugee at sister in laws place borrowing electricity, cell and food. Trying to find a hotel which is like a hitting a million dollar jackpot
All in all still being alive is fantastic!!

MamaOz- I wouldn't come back til you have power. It's so HOT here.Hotels are virtually impossible to get. We are at the Comfort Inn on SW 117 Ave and Bird Road. They have been wonderful, but I know the are booked here through the weekend. Try calling them. It's not too far from MCI,where we both get treated. My RO is De. Fagundes. Who is yours? My MO is Dr. Sara Garrido, first appointment is next week. Another option is to complete rads where you are. I had considered leaving and doing that but I work at MIA, and can't be gone so long.
-
I am glad everyone did ok through the storm. I don't know how but we managed to not lose power. School is closed till Monday and I am not complaining. I miss and hope my 2nd graders are Ok. I was supposed to be done with radiation on the 22nd but that won't happen now. I had 2 treatments last week between Labor Day, rad machine breaking on Wednesday and they have been closed since last Friday. I will call tomorrow morning. My underarm is really red still and sore. I have 11 more to go. I am having my port removed next week and I am very excited. My 6 week post chemo check up was also cancelled because of Irma. I feel grateful and blessed to have power and a roof over my head. I don't post much, but I do appreciate all of you.
-
Tomorrow (Wed) is my last radiation! I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it will be great not to have to get up so early every day to go to the center, but on the other hand, I'll miss my techs and the staff there. They have all been terrific. I'm just now starting to get a little pink, and never did have any more fatigue than usual, so I've been really fortunate. Good luck to all, and glad that all of you in Florida came through Irma ok.
-
I'm so glad to hear that everyone has come through the storm. My family done ther is also well. I finished my last treatment today!!!! I didn't have as many 16/16. I'm a little pink but my RO said to expect my skin to get worse for the next couple of weeks due to accelerated course but as far so good. We're all doing it. Sadly I found out my sister has a 7 mm mass in her left breast and is going for biopsy next week. I've encouraged her to check out this site. My boyfriend and I had a celebration. They have me a certificate and a pin and I rang the bel

Congrats Mandycat and Vixxyn!
~sorry to hear about your sister Vixxyn. I'm sure you (and us) will be a great support system for her. My sister is going in for a diagnostic mammo next week for what we hope is a cyst. She has been my rock through this whole process. I hope it is just a cyst. Nobody wants to ride this train again
-
Still no power at my rads office, hoping to start back asap but would like them to work out the kinks and get up and running good first. Good luck everyone, can't believe we get to deal with a storm while going through this. I'm thankful but sheesh!
-
I'm done!! These were my terrific techs: Jeff, Rick and Joe. They made my experience fun, always ready with a smile and a joke.
-
Congrats!!! Love those smiling faces
