Herpes

I hesitated a while before posting this but I am curious to know if others out there have experienced the same. I've had cold sores most of my adult life. In the years leading up to my diagnosis, I was getting one at least every second month. I used Zovirax cream and learned to live with it because the oral Zovirax upset my stomach and digestion. My oncologist said I could continue to do the same during treatment but warned that if I had herpes during chemo, it would take longer to heal. I had one unusually small sore during chemo which healed quickly and none since. I haven't gone this long without one since before I contracted the virus and I am pretty happy about that, but I am wondering if it might be related to the treatment. Has anyone else experienced this?

What a great thing to happen! I get a few a year but I no longer get sores in my mouth from citric fruit.

I get it on my forehead, usually once a year or so.  I just use blistek and keep it covered so it doesn't get irritated.  I should think it would get worse with chemo since that causes your white count to go down.

Thanks Beatmon and Cive. I also expected it to get worse during chemo, so I am surprised. I'm guessing the herpes virus may have been flaring up more frequently because my immune system was taxed by the cancer? Who knows.
