I thought i needed to be in surgery 4 weeks after finishing neoadjuvant chemo. My surgeon says waiting 8 weeks is ok. Anyone have to wait this long? It makes me really nervous.

We are all different and our Drs are different. There is no "One Size Fits All" when it comes to TX plans.

For me, my TX plan was quite different than most do. I did 4 DD A/C neoadjuvant. 2 weeks after last A/C had UMX. 3 weeks after UMX, started 12/weekly Taxol adjuvant. A week after last Taxol started 25/rads. 2 weeks after last Taxol/a week after starting rads, I started Femara. Most who do neoadjuvant Chemo will do 2 different batches both neoadjuvant but I didn't - 1 neoadjuvant, UMX, then a different Chemo for adjuvant.

My breast care center wanted to complete surgery 4 weeks after chemo. It ended up being 5 weeks after since they had to coordinate the BS and the PS schedules (I had immediate reconstruction). When I brought up my concerns with my BS she said waiting an extra week wouldn't be a big deal.

Most of what I've read and heard is the recommendation of 4-6 weeks, but it's very individual. Usually not sooner than 4 weeks because your body needs time to recover from the chemo. And generally not longer than 12 weeks in studies I had looked at.
