Aflac

I've seen some of our sisters post here that they have Aflac. I do and have been uploading to them successfully.

I missed a cancer benefit somehow and wanted to point it out to others just in case you also have missed it.

It was the immunotherapy benefit. My policy is for 1 time per month up to 5 months. Exactly the times I had Neulasta and Neupogen injections.

They have always paid promptly for the chemo I send in. Hope if anyone else has missed this benefit it will alert them to it. Brenda E

I don't know if this is the best place to post, but my employer is in the process of setting our office up for Aflac for the first time. I already have an Aflac cancer and dental policy that I signed up for recently on my own. Short term disability won't be effective until 10/1/17, meaning that I wouldn't be able to make a claim until 11/1/17.

This week, I noticed several dimples on my breast and feelings of let down, as well as some discharge in one breast. I have not felt a lump. I haven't breast fed in 3 years. I'm 38 years old. I know this isn't a cancer diagnosis, but if it is, I want to be proactive.

I've been googling and I can't find, or it's possible that I'm too frazzled to locate the answer. If I have a mammogram that indicates that this is a breast cancer related condition, and it requires time off, does anyone know if Aflac will pay for short term disability if it is diagnosed before the 30 days is up? Or 11/1/17?

I would call Aflac and ask them. If it is BC what comes next takes time. Of course I hope it isn't for your sake but it's good you are checking it out.

You may not need time off at least on the front end. All depends on what kind, etc. There are multiple factors involved. Every woman is different. Nothon is done overnight.

After my mammo I had a biopsy. It takes a few days or longer sometimes to get the results. Then I met with the BS, scheduled the surgery met with an oncologist and treatments were prescribed. So there are a lot of steps in the process.

If you do need time off by all means take it. I had 33 radiation treatments. Not too bad but really fatigued halfway through them. I did take time off. I had a very detailed oriented job with FedEx and I worked nights. It was exhausting.

Having said all of this I understand you are anxious but don't assume the worst.

    Keep us posted.

I'm waiting it out. The new plan went into effect 10/1 and I'm in the clear after 11/1. I have an appointment 11/3.

Unfortunately, in the last few days, the affected breast has changed shape and now hurts, but isn't tender. At this point, I don't even know if I could get in sooner if I tried.

I was also feeling like a dimple could be so many things, but I feel like my collection of symptoms could only be a few things. My fingers are crossed.
