Hi, I have posted on a few different boards in the last few days here.  I am new. So I am going to post another one.  After finishing my 12 Taxols and now just on Herceptin, I went to see a Naturopath to see how I can help with hair growth and skin etc.  She put me on these Tumeric capsules and some green tea capsules. I had some heart palpitations, which I was having before the chemo and I gotta say they have worked quite well.  I am seeing a Cardiologist in a week, and both my echocardiograms done so far, have been good.  Going to do a Holter Monitor, as well.  So I will see about that there, as well.  So now I had my first IV Vit C and B12 and Selenium drip and other vitamins done today.  I wait a week after my Herceptin, then I have it once a week for the two weeks between the Herceptin, then none the week I'm to get the Herceptin, then repeat.  So the whole week of the Herceptin I do not do it.  The Naturopath knows I am on this target drug, and told me not to have these for that week with the Herceptin.

Has anyone else gone this route with the I.V. Vitamin C treatment in trying to heal your good cels, while being on Herceptin? Any opinions on this?   My leg stiffness at my knees etc. seems to be better.

    Hi Drained,

I applaud you for trying the IV Vitamin C. I have not tried it, but am interested in what results you get from it. I hope you are doing well.

Hi, I've had three I.V. Vitamin C treatments so far.  I think they are called Meyers treaments?  Don't quote me.  I was suppose to go today, but cancelled for next week.  I'm not sure if I am getting any benefit from it.  My hair is not where I want it yet, but I am only 11 weeks post chemo.  Some days, I think it looks like it's coming in good, and other days not.  I feel less dehydrated I would say, prob from the Vit C I.V.  I did ask my Oncologist what he thought about it, and he said he doesn't advise but ultimately it was up to me.  My naturopath again, does it with other patients.  As I said, I am going to do another next week, I was getting hesitant of doing it.  I sure don't want to take away the Herceptins effectiveness.  I've heard it is controversial.  I am not a doctor but since my BC did not hit my lymphnodes.... and it was low to come back even before my chemo, I just think this may be beneficial.

    Drained6513-

My hair did not begin growing back until I was 5 months post chemo. I had little sprigs pop up, and just now, nearly 3 years since I quit chemo, my hair is about 3 inches away from what it was prior to chemo. My eyebrows never grew back, so I had them tattooed and I really love them.

Violetkali glad you are doing well.  So you discontinued chemo?  Of course that was about 3 years ago?  How many treatments did you get in before you stopped?  You are a Stage1 like me.  I nearly quit mine a few times.  I did not have any side effects that were as bad as yours though, except the hair loss.  That and the dry dry skin is what almost made me quit it.  My hair is getting fuller every week but it looks like a really short buzz cut.  My eyebrows did grow back the same as before, maybe thicker but my eyelashes are short, where as they use to be long.  I think they still may be and they are just still growing back?  Not sure.

Hi Drained. I made it through 4 treatments and discontinued treatment. I began using Latisse to help my eyelashes return to normal, and so far it has worked well. I am 12 weeks in and they look amazing.

Hi VioletKali, did you mean you discontinued Vit C I.V. or your chemo?  My hair has grown back, thick enough, it just needs length now.  I think the Vit C IV and Rogaine and Nioxin all contributed to it coming back properly and as quick.  5 1/2 months, not sure that may be slow to some ppl.
