Tests today at 10.30am (uk time) Biopsy Q.s.

Hi, I'm Emma age 41.

I found a lump in my armpit 5 months ago which I finally found the courage to report to my GP last week.

Thanks to the uk system I'm being seen in the breast clinic just a week later, today at 10.30am uk time

I have the lump in my armpit, an inverted nipple and pain in breast. I also have unexplained shoulder and neck pain the same side.

I have a 3 stage appointment.... First the mammogram. Then an ultrasound and then a biopsy if necessary.

My question is.... If the lump in my armpit could be a fatty lump, will they biopsy anyway?

I have been encouraged to insist on a biopsy even if they 'think' it's just a fatty lump for example.

I'm so nervous, but I don't know if it's just because I worried about insisting on a biopsy :(

I don't want to be left wondering because I didn't have the biopsy if they believe it's a fatty lump or cyst.

    Thinking of you. I'm also in the UK. Good that you're being seen and having the 3 stage appointment. I would push for a biopsy and just say you will be stressing about it otherwise. In fact you're probably at the appointment now as we speak. Please let me know how you get on. Hugs

    Emma, I guess I may or may not push for a biopsy depending on what they find during the Mammo and us. If they are confident that what they are finding is a b9 finding, and there is no doubt, then I would be satisfied with that. If they have any questions at all, then a biopsy will answer those questions. Simple fluid filled cysts are easily identified on us, so there would be need to biopsy, but they could aspirate some fluid and test that. The upside is that the cyst might collapse after that, and if it had been causing pain, that should also subside. I would try my best to remain calm, so that you can take in and process what they are saying (based on their findings) and then make decisions based on the reality of the findings, not unilateral decisions made before hand with no additional medical information. I know it's hard, but try to keep breathing! good luck for b9 findings
