I was diagnosed BRCA1 positive in December. I had an elective full hysterectomy by keyhole and it was fantastic I was so well so quick. 4 weeks ago I had bilateral double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with implants. Drains removed after 12 days woohoo. Can anyone give me any info on pain after this surgery, I feel very tight across the chest and my skin above the implants is very sensitive i get shooting pains within my implant/breast and both my sides are sore where to always have a post op bra on. Also when I sit up from laying down I get the same sensation as when u get up quickly and blood rushes to your head. Would be great to hear if anyone else has had the same?

Thanks

    Hi Tab,

I had a double mastectomy on the 8th of this month so 3 weeks out, with immediate implants. I felt the tightness too, like wearing a tight bra. It has lessened considerably for me since then, I'm sure it will continue to lessen for you. I was advised to not wear any bra for at least 6 weeks, and afterwards to try to avoid underwire ones. I have some trouble with totally raising my arms above my head, I can feel it pulling around the bottom of my breast(ribcage), almost like it "catches" there. Have you been doing arm raises or the types of ROM exercises they have advised?

I get weird stabbing sensations which I have attributed as the nerves regenerating. I have a type of sore feeling i'd say. I say its like having the flu when just your shirt touching your body hurts. That is how the skin on my chest and on the top of my arms feel. Even as I type, when I move my shirt touching my skin feels sore. Is that how it feels?

I have not had the feeling of blood rushing to my head though. Your body has been through a lot in the past several months with two major surgeries so I would not think it so strange to have some odd sensations. I have noticed when I drink something cold, my new boobs feel cold and they are implants! As i was in the grocery store earlier it was cold in there and my chest muscles were twitching or clenching, whatever the muscles do. Like my boobs were cold and my body was reacting with shivers. It was so weird. I was thinking its because of the loss of breast tissue and the implants are under the muscle so the muscle is the top layer. I don't know, but I'm wondering what it's going to be like in the winter for me lol.

I haven't heard of a keyhole procedure, I'll have to look into that because I was considering a hysterectomy and some point also. Glad you had such a quick recovery.

Hopefully someone else will chime in here with their experience.
