Are my implants going to feel like part of me?

Eventually they will but it will take time. In my case, I would say it took up to two years.

I did feel like something was sitting in my chest. My breasts were cold (very common) and fairly firm). The muscles around the implants always felt tight. Mine was worse because of the radiation. Without any natural tissue, it's hard for it to feel a part of your body. Eventually I had them removed in favor of a fat transfer. Everyone is different. You might have an a better outcome, but be prepared for it not to be perfect. I am not trying to get you down, but I wish people had been more honest with me about what to expect.

Pepper, After my mx, I didn't have to have radiation, so my situation is different to Stefajoy's. I never really felt like my implant was cold (and I live in a COLD winter climate) and I don't remember it feeling "foreign" either. Now, it is possible that it did for awhile and I have conveniently forgotten that part but it feels just normal to me now. I do remember that the sensation in my skin took quite a while to come back, but it did return. So I would try to give yourself some time and be patient with your newly reconstructed body.

Hi Pepper! Someone really needs to educate the medical community about this issue. The difference between the TE's and the implants is night and day! It kills me when they say "oh they feel the same." NO! The day of the exchange is like having a weight lifted off your chest. I've had this discussion with other women who have gone through it and they have said the same thing. If you go with Silicone implants, they're softer, much more natural feeling. I'll be honest, my non-radiated breast you would be hard pressed to know it's completely reconstructed. It's that good. Hang in there through the TE's. Those really are not fun

I've had my implants for about 15 months. I always wore a light bra to sleep for almost the 1st year. I think I got more used to the implants and PS said I didn't have to wear it anymore so I stopped. They don't feel uncomfortable like the expander ROCKS at all but they are slightly "heavy" compared to my original flesh albeit a bit higher 😁

I had TEs for 16 months as I had setbacks as well. Got perm implants in last Dec under muscle/skin. Doesn't feel like breasts and is kind of tight and a bit uncomfortable. Having a revision sx this Fri to get better symmetry and take off some loose skin on the right side. The left side looks great because it was radiated and so it's firm. The right side though is lower more tear drop looking. I've gone this far to not go for the fix. I don't think it'll ever feel a part of me if I'm to compare it to real breasts, but I got used to these perm implants so in that sense, it's a part of me. TEs though, never. They were more round and unnatural looking, hard as a rock and sat too high up, and too far apart.
