Eeyore!!! (Big waves with both hands 🙌)
M0mmy ~ You are such a thoughtful Auntie 💟 Five year olds are so much fun; The imagination is sooo big at that age. So many fun books too - Some series that my kids loved (and I still do) - Little Bear, Biscuit (silly, naughty puppy); Anything by Beatrix Potter, Eric Carle, Richard Scary....... I wish I could sit with you in the bookstore - we could flip through all the animals dressed up in clothing stories. Including that half naked Winnie the Poo. Silly old bear!
-
love Winnie poo. All this reminds me when my dss so little. Oh my how time flies.
-
I went through Steve's's books a number of years ago. I still have all. I looked at value of all. One book was valued at around a 100$. It was the "Little Engine that Could". 1964. Wasn't a first edition. No clue why the value placed on that edition.
I have a copy of "Six White Horses" It was a poem written by a gal in Detroit when John F Kennedy was assassinated. ....................odd'ly, it has no value on the market. Has great value to me.
-
HMMMMMMMm tried to post the poem, wouldn't work. A copy ribt thing I'm supposing. : Sad it is so good not to be shared.
-
I found this most wonderful thing. It has Candy Geer poem, and a tribute by Hose Feliciano.

I was even thinking about getting her the Paddington Bear books.
Not used to buying books for kids, haven't done in several years.
-
Ohh I LOVED Paddington. When I was a child they were marketed as "for children from 6 - 66". I used to laugh out loud reading them. Fondest memories. This was long before the movie. True classics!
-
this is the Paddington sculpture in Paddington Station London (made pilgrimage there in 2012). It is modelled on Peggy Fortnum's illustrations for the original publications.
-
I read a couple of the Paddington books and I loved them.

Mommy, it's so fun to go shopping for books for the little ones.
Susie, welcome back and thank you for asking about Dad. The biopsy result came back positive for prostate cancer. Thank God that the Gleason score is not too bad (7). Grade 2 with PSA of 6.2. I think the best option is surgery. Waiting for authorization and referral. Hate to see him go through radiation and hormone suppression. QOL is important. Hopefully, with surgery it will buy him another good 10 years. As far as his injury from December of last year, he still has the burning sensation on his shoulders, but not complaining much. Neurontin seems to help a bit. At 77 he is still working here and there to keep his mind busy and to escape mom's nagging. Ha! Please share pictures of your vacation (only if you are comfortable).
Feline, glad to see you back. Hope you had a good break.
Junieb, how is the foot?
Ms. Sas, I didn't know about the different Salems. Interesting observation from the author. I double checked just to make sure. I had a hard time locating Salem in Wyoming, but found out that they changed the name of the city years ago. Not sure what it all means. So many try to predict when the end will be (not saying this author is). It is futile. All it does is making them look silly.
Eeyore, I will give you a gentle hug after that air-choking-Tigger hugs Shep tried to give you. Geez. When she gets excited.....
Patty, hoping you have more good days. It's always good to see you post and play the games with the other ladies.
Love Fridays, but Friday also means toilet cleaning day. Need to get going or I won't get anything accomplished. Having lunch with my Sac Sisters today. Yay!
Hello to my other Sisters on here. Ta-ta for now.

Sassy ~ Six White Horses is priced from on Amazon from $4.95 to $788.29! Very touching poem. Can't believe it was written by a highschool girl - what a special and gifted young woman! Thank you for sharing - hadn't known of this book before. Agree, your book is priceless :-)
Six White Horses
Six white horses came today
to take my Daddy far away.
Mommy said I must be good
and stand as big as Daddy would.
And now I'm big so I won't cry
when I see my Daddy wave goodbye,
'cause Daddy is my special friend
he always comes back soon again.
I cannot wave, I don't see why,
there's just a black box moving by.
But Mommy says I should be still,
I'm a big boy now, and so I will.
I hear some drums, they're awful loud,
but Mommy is sad and so's the crowd.
And everybody's dressed in black,
but Daddy soon will hurry back.
We're going to take a walk to mass
then maybe I'll see my Daddy pass.
I wonder why we're only three,
he always comes to church with me.
Two men are talking, I can see,
they said they're very proud of me.
They said my Daddy's in that box,
that black one with six gold locks.
I have on a big boy's suit
and now it's my turn to salute.
I do it just like big boys do,
because I have to be one too.
They're going to stop, and then just leave,
but in that box, how can he breathe?
Though I do not understand,
there's Mommy here to hold my hand.
He's going to leave and not come home!
We just can't leave him here alone.
I want to hear him laugh and say,
"John-John, come here so we can play."
I don't see Daddy anywhere,
I want to cry and I don't care.
He's in the ground, he cannot be,
he should be right here holding me.
But Mommy says I must be good,
so I'll stand as Daddy would.

High School Student.
When she wrote this poem, Candy Geer,
was a student at Grosse Pointe High School,
now Grosse Pointe South High School,
in a suburb of Detroit. -
Loverly. I had no idea about your dad. Lifting him and your family up in prayer.
HOOTIE hoo
-
Lover, so sorry to hear about your dad. Will keep him and your family in my prayers. Has DD1 started classes at her new school? Can't believe it's a new school year already. How is DD2 adjusting?
Junie, Kirby is a good looking guy. Your neighbor is something else. Takes all kinds, doesn't it?
Boy, I did not remember the caisson horses being white and I was there. I vividly remember the riderless horse, Black Jack.
Got to see the eclipse!. Had a doctor's appointment that I would have canceled but he's a hard one to get an appointment with. When I was called back, he and two other doctors were in a room. I thought they were having an impromptu meeting. I was in a room that he doesn't use. So when he came to get me he took me to where they were and asked did I want to see the eclipse. I sure did since he had the glasses. The very first one I did as a kid was with the pin hole in cardboard and a piece of paper. Must say, this was way cooler. We had 82% totality. I forgot how bright it still was, much like the other one. I think with the glasses being all the rage for it made a big difference in the number of people viewing it.
Sas, have you done any more thrifting?
-
Kathi. The glasses def are better but enjoyed the fun of making the cereal box with ds.
Ds2 has first football jamboree tomorrow. He is starting. He is so excited. I'm bummed. It's 1 1\2 hours each way plus then walking to field and sitting on concrete bleachers for 4 hours. Way more then my back can take so I can't go 😣. But the positive side is there will be many more games closer to home and single game. Def gonna have to find one of those comfy looking folding seats.
Hope everyone is doing well
Hootie hoo

kathindc - You are right, it takes all kinds. Unfortunately, when I posted that I thought that the complaint had been only a verbal one to my apt. manager, however it turns out that that neighbor and another are in cahoots with one another and actually called the police and made a report. Thankfully the police felt that the complaint had zero merit and didn't even contact me before closing the case. If I didn't know these woman like I do I'd give them the benefit of the doubt as to their reasoning. But not this time. I went to the police dept. yesterday and requested a copy of the report so I can see exactly who signed it, plus I requested some other reports in order to have evidence to show a judge the woman's history/propensity for making false accusations against numerous other neighbors.
Kirby also has his pre-op appt. on Sept. 5th for his teuter, so the vet will also do a full exam and write a report on Kirby's development, socialization & overall health. One more thing to add to my evidence. I think you can see where I am going with this.
Loverly - The foot is still swelling and aches when I walk or sit. It feels better once I get my shoe off, but only until the Kirbster jumps on it when chasing his toys. ;0) I love that little turkey butt though! He is getting a bath tomorrow, but no sense in sharing that with him just yet. He is just getting used to walking into the new shower on his own. He came half way in last time.
PattiP - Good to see you posting. Sorry you can't go with your kiddo to his game this time.
Waving Hi to every one else. Going to bed now, have an excellent weekend.
-
Lover I am very sorry to hear of your Dad's prostate cancer but can offer you encouragement that the treatment is extremely good now and he has every chance of coming through this. DH was DX'd in 2014 with Stage 3 Gleason 9 with extra-capsular extn. It was a big shock as it was only 2 years after my oqn stage 3 BC DX. Our youngest was 6 when I was Dx'd and 8 when he was, so for her at that time parents having a cancer DX seemed like the no big deal. IF ONLY that were true. He had the prostatectomy and 7 weeks radiation. They gave him the option of hormonal therapy but he decided to pass on that. Now 3 years out and very well, thank God. We had a bit of a scare earlier in the year as he was having a lot of back pain and thankfully the physio decided he should be scanned to rule out any recurrence, that was an anxious wait, but fortunately it showed he has a lot of wer and tear oon his bones, nothing sinister. He is an ex-marathoner.
Hope anyone who is from TX is in a safe place or who has family or friends in TX knows that they are in a safe place.

Well hubby and I talked last night about what to get my niece and we agreed on the Paddington Bear books. They have a hardcover book for the series that has 6 stories in it. Hubby thought that would be the perfect gift.

-
Loverly. Thinking of you and your family. Holding you up in prayer.
-
So not in the mood to talk to my hubby right now. He's being a real grouch today, don't know what got this attitude of his going, but he's being a total jerk!!!! He'd better knock it off or I'm gonna start calling him a Pithy Jackwagon

Welcome back Feline, he it was a great trip.
Sheep thank you for finding Greer's poem. And eBay prices. I'll warn Steve not to pitch. I have both protected in zip lock bags.
When it was published in the Detroit paper, it was very well received. Brought lot's of tear because it was very close in time to the event.
Loverly, sorry Dad has to go through this, but they have gotten better at the radiation thing. It's not like it used to be. Perhs, the Salem thing didn't get the press because of the end of days thing. I was interested in the occurrence of the Salem and the Salem road at the crossroads of the 2024 eclipse.
Kathy how cool your doc included you. I did the paper cardboard and pon hole thing as a kid too
Patty is there anyone that could send you phone pictures or streaming? I'm not tech smart in that regard. maybe they could even Skype?
-
JuneB if you can soak the foot in Epsom salts in tepid water ,then elevate for 1/2 hour after. then elevate several times a day for 20-30 minutes above heart level.
Feline just got to your post about DH. Glad all is working out. YAY..Treatment for prostate is so much better than twenty some years ago. Way better.

Informative and a very lovely subject - Where does breast cancer spread?
https://www.verywell.com/where-does-breast-cancer-... -
Morning Owlies, we do have several in the area of the storm. Beatsmom, Luvmyygoats, Phyllis's BBF whom she's stayed with over the five years she was in treatment. I have a niece.
Beatsmom Yahooooopooo are you dry?
Littlegoats hasn't posted in quite sometime
Mags is above it in Oklahoma, but it looks like rain bands are hitting them.
With rain bands, the positive is the wind keeps coming in between bands so it can dry things out. But Texas is heaving the tripple whammy. The rivers, the storm going in almost a circle with a second hit. Three things the storm surge, the rivers flooding from above, and the circling storm. Praying for them.
Please, forgive all the spelling errors. Stupid machine. I correct the errors before posting. Then move on. Only to find out that the machine uncorrected them.i.e. sheep Sep for Sep for Sep. SHEP. and Junkie for even June. A new machine is not in the budget yet. I may have to type in all caps.

I had a family friend of almost 40 years in the path of Harvey. Heard last night he and his wife are okay. They evacuated to Dallas before the hurricane hit.
