If Not IBC...What's Going On?

    Hello,

My name is Emily and I'm in my late teens, this post is an IBC concern post. I was hoping maybe someone who was diagnosed young may respond with what their experience was in either getting diagnosed or even someone young who suspected IBC and was cleared off that being possible.

Over the past three months I've been doing all my normal activities. But also almost three months ago I was taking a shower at a friend's house and I happen to notice small brown freckle like dimpling on both of my breasts. I thought, 'ok the lighting in here is just weird.' But then almost a month later I really started to wonder because the dimpling didn't go away... The only thing offsetting about this is that everywhere it dimples there seems to be a white hair there from the brownish dimple spot.

At the beginning of this month I started getting sore spots under my arms, which mostly turned to painful pimple like bumps and I went to the primary care doctor about. She just drained them and gave me antibiotic ointment for them each time.

Then the past couple days BOTH breasts have been sore, sometimes my armpits are sore but it's not constant and I'm dealing with more pimple like bumps and I just feel depressed because I don't really have the funds to see a doctor, much less begin any serious testing or treatment. I've heard of IBC before, and it seems as if my symptoms line up?

Just, I mean, I have no rash, and I was born with introverted nipples also my breasts tend to change sizes all the time due to my odd diets I do that seem to make me lose then gain weight back over short amount of time. I'm not really sure...

I think my main concern is the way my skin is dimpling and the soreness in my breast and sometimes under arm area...

The only odd thing is that all of this is happening TO BOTH of my breasts?

I would appreciate anyone's responses I'm over killed with worry.

    Thank you for your time,

    -Emily

As it you may know, breast cancer of ANY kind is EXTREMELY rare in teens and early 20s.  IBC is one of the rarest of breast cancers and it ALMOST NEVER presents in both breasts simultaneously.  I think your chances of this being breast cancer is about ZERO.  Your chances of being head-butted by a flying purple unicorn are higher.

My suggestion is that you show this to a dermatologist. Pimple-like rashes that can be drained, particularly under your arms, sound more like folliculitis or some other skin infection issue.

You say you have had "pimple like bumps" that she (PCP) drained them and you were given antibiotics " for them EACH time."

Nothing about what you wrote says IBC at all. Just something going on that needs further checking to find theout what it is an get the appropriate treatment for whatever is going on once it is actually diagnosed.

An appointment with a Dermatologist would probably be the way to go for your skin issues.

Hi, Emily. I agree with both posts responding to your question. What you are describing just does not fit with a presentation of IBC. You symptoms don't "line up" with any IBC picture. Here are my ideas for you--

Stop googling. Seriously, don't look around the internet anymore for pictures, stories, articles, about IBC. It's scaring you. If you had just googled "brain tumor" and then had a simple headache, reading about brain tumors would scare you, right? It's kind of the same thing.

If you can't move on with your life unless you see a doctor about this and have no insurance--nothing like Obamacare or your parents' insurance or a school health center--go to a Planned Parenthood or a public health clinic, where they can arrange for you to consult a doctor either free or charge or at a very small fee.

    Gentle hugs and best wishes!
