Who will remarry sooner man or woman ?

I am sure there are literally hundreds of studies on this but too lazy and feeling to sick to sit up and read thru all of it for the answer.
Do women or men marry faster ? My view says men just don't like to be alone and women enjoy their freedom.
Anyone know this answer ?

I'm not sure about statistics, but I'm putting my money on definitely men would remarry first.

I would guess men too. I'm really not interested in remarrying. I've got two big reasons - kids and cancer.
Would it be wonderful to have someone to lean on, to be there, to share the burden? Yes but not worth the hassle. Give me a dog. Unconditional love,no hassle.

I read that yes, older women widows like the freedom and not having to take care of someone else. There are less potential mates, also. A younger widow often remarries. Men, no matter what age, often seek a new partner.
My personal experience, three men in our little town in their late fifties - early sixties began dating almost immediately, Two married soon after. I also know a man who was a widower at a young age who never remarried.
Young women marry often to have a family. As they age and that is no longer an issue, the marry for family purpose is off the table.
Also, I read that if a woman's spouse had long term illness before passing, she is less likely to remarry.
If I go before dh, I think he'd definitely date and possibly remarry. If you have been in a good, long term relationship, it is said that you know the skills it takes to nurture relationships so it is sort of natural to develop another one.

divinemrsm. Well said. Thanks I can't imagine dating ever again after my divorce a couple months ago. :25 years is my limit. Enjoy the idea of me making all my decisions The only sad part for me is I always thought he would be holding my hand when I die from this horrible disease.

I am sorry to learn about your divorce.
Was there a reason you posed the question about widows vs widowers remarrying, Patty?
-
just curious

Patty, Honestly I've seen such a mixed bag of marriages, divorces, widows and widowers, remarriage and blended families that I really don't think there's a pattern. Here's a good story though:
She’s 98. He’s 94. They Met at the Gym.
