I've heard of it but not tried it. I'll be interested to hear more.

FWIW - I was going back through reports of my earlier DEXAs (I started them early and am glad I did) and noticed a real uptick at one point in the density of my spine. Further digging showed that it correlated to a period when I was doing a fair amount of jogging/running, which I can't do as much anymore. It's not proof positive but it seems to indicate the value of high impact activity. I wonder if wearing a weighted vest while power walking would have anywhere near the same effect?

I'm just beginning to do research on this but supposedly the weight vest can help your spine and also hips. Some people use it while walking and others use it while doing exercises, like squats.

I checked PubMed. There are some studies that show the weighted vest helps and some studies show no diff between using the vest or not.

Long-term exercise using weighted vests prevents hip bone loss in postmenopausal women.

This study said younger post-meno BC patients had more response to exercise:

Exercise effects on hip bone mineral density in older, postmenopausal breast cancer survivors are age dependent

Lots more on PubMed but I can't link to them all.
