Hanging in there - These are the ones I used

SummerRain, thank you, how do you attach it to your body. My burn area is 12" x 12". I tried to tape 3 4x4 inch pads together and then taped to my body, but the tape wouldn't stick since there was cream on my body. The whole right side of my body and around the corner under the arm is burned.

You are doing great Luwusu. I hope you keep up doing great. We finished the same day, but I've gone downhill on day 2. Keep us posted. Also post if you have to use the pain meds. I'm just so surprised how things could change so quickly from OK the whole time on radiation , to pain. I was doing so well before today.
I can't even imagine wearing a bra, even though I got the genie bra from Walmart that everyone recommends. Best of luck for continued wellness.

Hanging in there - I only used them when wearing something that pressed against the skin. Attach it to the clothing, instead of you.

My RO advised me to use Neosporin on a few spots that I had some slight roughness and peeling of the skin. I was informed that if I began to get sores or started oozing to give his office a call for something stronger. Not sure what the something strong was, but luckily the Neosporin did the job.

SummerRain, thank you, that is it. I could not figure that out. And I used a lot of tape. I will put some inside of my camisole.

Hope everyone is doing well. My pain and skin problems have much improved. A little peeling and some soreness but better each day. I have my follow up with the RO on August 14th. How long do we continue to follow up with RO?

Reporting back that I only had one bad day after rads (the second day after rads ended). Everything is back to normal discomfort. I'm loving this Triple-Antibiotic + Pain (generic Neosporin Pain). It has an analgesic in it.
Rwrighty - that is a question to ask your RO. I'm going to make a point of doing that too. I was reminded of issues which could come up 6 to 12 months post rads. One was broken ribs, I'll have to go look up the other one.

I started my 33 rads on June 26th so I'm not done yet. I had my first boost rad on Friday, then 4 more to go tomorrow -Thursday. My energy level is at an all time low. Working everyday and driving to rads then home 45 minutes is sucking the energy out of me. I'm hoping it starts to come back soon after I'm finished, but I am scheduled to meet my doc on 8/25 to start tomoxifen. I was schedule to start on 8/18 but that is the weekend of the eclipse and traffic will be crazy here. I'm pre-menopausal, so I'm worried what this next chapter will bring! The burning and itching have really picked up this last week and I'm rotating the triple antibiotic ointment with pain relief and the Benadryl anti itch creme. I'm soooo ready to be done and back to my normal routine. I have 2 teenage boys that go back to school on 8/16...dx 4/21 so where did my summer go?!

SouthernIllinois,
I just finished rads (33) of which 5 were boost 10 days ago. So I feel for you. My skin is starting to get better I would say as of today. I've been using the triple-antibiotic + pain most times, sometimes prescriptions wound cream (Prutech or Sonafine). But there is so much dryness, that I'm starting to give Vitamin E a try (only after rads are done). My RO recommended Vit. E as one of the things to try for skin.
I did not know that Vitamin E oil was available in bottles, so I bought Vit. E capsules and break about 3 - 4 to cover my tender area. But not every place carries the oil (not my CVS), so I'm okay using the capsules I cut open.
For anyone who is already using Vitamin E oil, how do you get it off your hands? Two days ago I gave up Softsoap - antibacterial liquid pump = due to finding out it has a carcinogen ingredient. I put a Dove bar out in the soap dish, but Dove is not getting the Vit. E off my hands. Do I need to use detergent, or is there another gentle soap that will clean it off my hands. This ingredient that is carcinogenic, is triclosan. It is many soaps . Is detergent the way to go?

Hi Folks,
I've been off the boards for a while. I hope folks are well. Congratulations to those who are finishing up! Good luck to those who are just starting.
I'm finished 27 of 30 (25 whole breast and 5 boosts). The experience has been going well. Yes, some pinkness, itching, and irritation under my arm and around to my back and I'm uncomfortable today, but it is really not bad.
I figure that a number of folks in this forum would have completed radiation. I'd like to write a note *and* to give a gift to staff.I've found everyone there has been so very patient and helpful. There are many folks who serve various roles to support us in treatment.Have any of you felt that you wanted to acknowledge and to express appreciation for the team?Any ideas of gifts?? I was thinking of either a basket of fruit - should it be organic to avoid extra toxins? - or a box of "healthier"-type snacks. I saw something on Amazon.com.
Best wishes.

Bloomin- glad you are almost finished. I had my last radiation about a month ago. Continue to take good care of your skin afterward. My most difficult time was the 10th day after the last boost and for about another week. I am great now. Breast still gets red after I exercise and get hot and sweaty and I think the sports bra is irritating but hope this will subside after awhile.
I did get the 2 techs and the RN a box of gourmet chocolates from a specialty shop here in the city. I know not healthy and I have eliminated most sugars from my diet but they really enjoyed. I also sent a note of Thanks and told them how they made a hard experience so much easier. I think any gesture is appreciated.
Keep us posted on how you are doing

I had last boost on Aug 2 and took a cake, fruit juices and a bottle of good sweet wine for the end of difficult days (or to celebrate when they want). And I intend to write a compliment to each sector - unit of oncology (where I had chemo), unit of breast pathology (BS, PS, navigator nurse...) and unit of radiotherapy. Everybody likes a compliment and is good for them (at the eyes of the administration).
