Questions relating to mother
I don't really know where to start but I'll try my best apologies if I have written in the wrong place.
After a mammogram last week my mother 52 was called back for more scans they told her after US (and other test but I'm not sure what) that they are 99percent sure she has breast cancer with 3 concerning lumps 2 breast 1 lymph node they did a biopsy of all 3 she gets the results next week, I am going to the appointment but am so anxious and would like some advice. I have been Google searching everything and have scared myself to death.
If somebody could help me with the following questions it would be greatly appreciated.
Because of the 3 lumps including lymph nodes does that mean it is at least stage III?
What questions should I ask at the appointment (or tell her to ask)?
What's the likely time frame of when treatment starts?

Hi flowers, sorry to here you and your mom are going through this. Here is a good site that explains staging: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/breast-cancer/unders...
They won't be able to stage until they get more info. from the pathology report and may want to do additional testing like an MRI, and/or body scans. Same goes with best treatment options. As you can see you are still in the early stages of collecting information.

88flowers, if your Mom does get a diagnosis at her appointment, her treatment start will be based on the type of bc they indicate that she has. There are many different types. Some types start with chemo (neo-adjuvant or before surgery), some with surgery. They will want to have more information before a plan can be recommended. So if they do give her a bc diagnosis, most likely the next steps will be more imaging, as ShellsattheSea indicated, and waiting for more information. She will also be referred to some specialists who will be helping her better understand and make decisions; like an MO (medical oncologist), RO (radiation oncologist), a BS (breast surgeon) and perhaps a PS (plastic surgeon). Maybe you can help her by getting a nice binder all ready for reports and helping her collect them? Good luck at her appointment!

Hi
88flowers, sorry to hear about your mother, stay positive if you can, and of course you're her second set of ears.
I know it's overwhelming, as I was diagnosed @ the end of June. I just had surgery August 3rd. I tried to join 3 support groups, and search the internet and couldn't do it. I decided to stay on this site as it is great information, but I am not on here that much either.
Once you're further in with what her diagnosis is, and after talking to the surgeon things get easier to understand. I'm still trying to understand as I wait patiently for onocologist to see results of surgery to find out if I have to go through chemo. And no matter what I still have to go through radiation.
Going to follow up with Surgeon today.
If you need someone to talk to I'm here. I don't feel as knowledgeable as I am still learning but we're all in it together.
Prayers to your mom and you
