edited August 2017 in Waiting for Test Results

I have been reading so much on this page the last 2 days because I just had my first mammo, I am 40 almost 41. So the mammo was pretty much painless, but I made the mistake of looking at my pictures!! Granted I don't know how to read them but I saw a white blotch/blob on one of them and now I am freaking out. I'm just curious, could this be normal tissue? I will get my results Monday but the waiting is killing me. I have anxiety and it's in overdrive. What are the chances of getting called back for this blob

Try to relax those images are not always easy to read and your blob could be regular breast tissue. There are way too many variables for you to know just at glance. Monday will be here before you know it.

    Best wishes for you.

Thanks for your reply!! I know I shouldn't worry but this stupid anxiety makes it hard.

    Hnesper,

I went for a mammogram after finding a lump. I was sent in for an immediate ultrasound, literally within minutes of the mammogram being completed. I think that's pretty standard when they see anything that worries them. The fact that the radiologist didn't come speak to you or order further tests would seem to indicate that whatever they saw wasn't an obvious problem. Hopefully what you saw was just a cyst or dense breast tissue

    Best of luck to you.

    Trish

Thanks Trisha but I live in a rural area so I had my mammo on a mobile unit. When I called at the end of the day, they still hadn't read my report. I guess I will find out tomorrow but I'm so nervous!!

Hnesper, I agree with all above, could be perfectly normal. It is common, however, for a call back on your first mammo as there aren't previous images to compare with that track what "normal" looks like in your breasts. So even if you get a call back, it doesn't mean that there is a problem. Hoping you get reassuring mammo results!
