Shortness of breath, discomfort on inhalation
Dx with BC in 2015, had UMX in 2015 and reconstruction from TE to implant in 2016. Lately, I have been experiencing shortness of breath and discomfort on inhalation, mainly on implant side toward ribs/armpit area. I have had 2 chest X-rays and a breast MRI that has shown nothing. I am still experiencing this and actually ended up at the ER in which they ruled out any possibility of a blood clot or anything in the lungs and I was sent home with xanax and told I was having an anxiety or panic attack. I disagree, I am still experiencing symptoms, but I don't know what else to do! Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any suggestions for me? I have been dealing with this for over a month now and am sick of being in pain!!!

Hi Sweeney -
I don't know if a CT Scan would show more than an MRI, but I do know that it shows more than just X-rays. That is something you should ask ASAP (my humble opinion....) About three weeks ago I had pain in the left chest area, and right below my left breast taht weirdly extended around my side. I brushed it off as wicked gas, but it hurt more when tking in a deeper breath. My PC told me to go to the ER and they found blood clots in each lung. The saving grace is I was supposed to have a knee replacement 4 days later...yeah...
Did you talk to your oncologist? I would ask what other tests are possible and that you know your own body! It wasn't just anxiety for me, and if one more person or doctor asked if I thought it was stress I was going to slap them silly.
Be persistent--I don't know anything about implants, but that's another area it sounds like they should be thoroughly investigating. We are our own best advocates, and if your oncologist is useless, go to your PC? OR go back again to both and say you are sick of the pain and need a resolution NOW. This has gone on fro a long time, and the pain hasn't dissipated!
I don't know how to list all of my diagnoses on this site, but: Bi-lateral, Stage III, 16/17 positive lymphnodes.ER positive on Armidex generic (Anastrozole) -completed chemo, 2 surgeries (lumpectomies) and radiation on June 30th this summer.
Let us know what happens ---sorry you're going through this....Good luck.

While at the ER, they did a d-dimer that ruled out a blood clot. I am having a bone scan on Friday
