Bone Scan - 2 spots. Can it be something else?

Options

Hi all, I was recently sent for a bone scan by my PCP due to worsening mid-back pain and rib pain that would wake me up at night crying out in pain. The bone scan showed focal increased radiotracer activity in T9 vertebra (Dr. says, right where I am complaining of pain) and area involving mid to distal shaft of right femur. I am scheduled for an MRI of both areas next week. Anyone have areas that lit up on bone scan with symptoms that turned out to be something other than mets?

Thanks, Joy

I do have spots that light up. Severe osteoarthritis makes my neck spine light up and I also have a spot that is where one of the upper ribs meets the breast bone. That spot has been lit for close to 7 years unchanged, the drs said it's probably also osteoarthritis. In your case that is what can be on the T9. Don't know about the long bone, that is not a place that lights up with arthritis.

Seachain thanks for the response. Hopefully the t9 is arthritis. The femur might show something different on MRI. That's what I am hoping for.
