Does breast pain always mean negative for BC?

I have always read and been told that pain associated with a breast lump isn't BC. I found a lump on my right breast several months ago and had a mammogram and ultrasound done and was referred to a surgeon and scheduled for an excisional breast biopsy on Thursday (08/10/2017). The past few weeks, I have been having sharp pains come and go through my right breast where the lump is. BC does run on my mom's side of the family.

This waiting is terrifying and trying to ease my mind. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had pain for about three years every time I would lay on my left side. Later, I would be diagnosed with cancer on that side. Can't tell you for sure if pain was actually cancer. If so, it sure was a slow moving one.

While breast cancer CAN hurt, it is not the most common cause.

The simple answer is no.

Pain is not a common symptom, but cancer can be painful or tender.

I had pain with my tumor. The discomfort was basically why I found it - trying to figure out what was feeling so uncomfortable. Sorry - this isn't reassuring for you. I hope you don't have the same experience.

No. Pain can be from a tumor.

My tumor itched. It itched deep inside not on the outside. It was also a bit painful, but that could have been from me trying to scratch an itch I could not get to
