Butt Projection After SGAP (Brazilian Butt Lift)
I had the Sgap stage 1 and stage 2 and my butt is very flat. Can fat be added back to my buttocks so I get more projection? Or will the fat just swell up around the scar? Has anyone had a brazilian butt lift after sgap

I am considering sgap, not happy with my implants. My PS said no, can't have BBL after sgap. I need a BBL BEFORE the sgap lol. I am going for a 2nd opinion Thursday.

Shoregirl - Why did your surgeon tell you that you can't have a bbl after Sgap? I don't know if the scars prevent having a successful fat transfer or bbl?
The Sgap will make your butt smaller no matter what any doctor tells you. It is best suited for pear shaped women. The buttocks is really hard to fix if it is deformed. Look into the Hip Flap which is above the buttocks and takes the love handles. I was told by 2 doctors that I was more suited for the Sgap because "I didn't have enough belly fat." Hip Flap was never mentioned to me. I was told that I was not going to lose shape in my buttocks. My backside is destroyed. My doctor is not taking responsibility and has downplayed the damage done to my butt. I need to have fat transfers or bbl to my buttocks so I can reconstruct my "reconstructed" buttocks. I know this has happened to other women and I am searching for a doctor that does a lot of butt work that can help me. I think it is considered "cosmetic" by my insurance at this point. It is going to be very expensive to fix. I am completely devasted. I can't live like this. I was not expecting to be deformed. Please let me know what your 2nd opinion tells you on Thursday.

ad197 Where did you have your SGAP done? What exactly has happened to your backside - Misshapen? too flat? not symmetrical? I'm considering SGAP at NOLA and have not heard this from anyone.

Yes, my buttocks is flat, asymmetrical, dented and deformed. I did not go to NOLA, but I consulted with a doctor there. I have multiple issues. My life is at a standstill. The problem with the Sgap is when the surgeons cut INTO the buttocks. It does not work for thin women. I was evenly proportioned but with small saggy boobs and was assured that I would not lose my buttocks. That is not what happened. I didn't even get bigger boobs and am currently searching for a doctor that will most likely have to liposuction my body twice to get enough fat so they can place it into my buttocks and I have to gain even more weight for it. Guess where I gain weight? My stomach! Plus, I am having increased hot flashes and don't feel it is healthy for a breast cancer survivor to gain a lot of fat. It is hard for me to gain more weight. I don't diet and I was already at a healthy weight before my Sgap. What am I to do? I can't live my life being deformed. Most likely I will not find a doctor that can do it that takes my insurance. All doctors liposuction, but not all do it right. I was still recommended the Sgap by 2 doctors anyways because I didn't have enough belly fat. My body type is not a pear. Just because I don't have enough belly fat does not mean I have enough butt fat either. Anyone experienced with the flaps should know this. I trusted my doctor. I was never offered or spoken to about the Hip flap by anyone. I was not recommended the DIEP either. I was assured all along my reconstruction that how I looked was normal and after they "fixed" me, I was informed that I was the first to not like the "look." I don't believe I am the only one who does not like the "look" and am looking for other women in my situation that have reconstructed their buttocks after Sgap. I have not found any women that have buttocks that look like mine.

So sorry for your suffering. I hope you find a good solution.

VegGal - Thank you. I just want to help other women in making a more educated decision when they decide to reconstruct. There is little information on Sgap. I wish I had known how I would have looked.

Ad, so sorry you are going through this!! I saw the ps at Hopkins for my 2nd op. He talked me out of SGAP. I don't have much tissue there either. I asked about love handles but he just told me to give my implants time. He was very complimentary of what my ps had done and explained the discomfort I am having is likely due to nerves regenerating which should subside but it could take a year or more. I did not ask him about BBL after SGAP as we decided I would not pursue the SGAP. I'm sorry I could not be of more help! Have you consulted with Dr. Frank DellaCroce at the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery in New Orleans? He is very experienced with SGAP and does a 2nd stage operation to improve buttock contour. He has a forum you can ask questions called Ask The Doctor and may be able to address your concerns. I have read that they work with you even if he is out of network with your insurance, and have transportation and lodging resources. I hope this helps!
Hugs!! Shoregirl

Shoregirl - Thank you for helping me. I already had my 2nd surgery "butt lift" a while back. My surgeon was very pleased all along with how I looked and how I turned out. I am very shocked that I look the way I do. My surgeon told me that I am the first ever to not like the "look." I can't believe that other women would put up with this "look" either. I am searching for other women this has happened to and how they fixed it. I did a phone consult with NOLA before I did my Sgap and they recommended the Sgap as well. The doctor I went with also said the exact same thing that I was told by NOLA. I simply was not a good candidate for Sgap and should not have been recommended it. I am now in a more vulnerable position and need a doctor that is very experienced at aggressive lipo and fat transfer to the buttocks. The microsurgeons are not very experienced at that and for good reason. I am now in a completely different category. I am asking for help but also educating others so they can make a more informed decision. Women that get reconstructive surgery are less educated about the process than women that get cosmetic surgery because less women are going to talk about reconstructive surgery. There is not a lot of information out there. This was all 100% preventab

I had an IGAP where they take from the crease of your butt and that worked nicely. I am scarred but the scars are more in the crease. I also had some lipo on my thigh area to balance out my reconstructions. All looking good, but there are always side effects - I'm completely number down the back of one leg & partially numb down the back of the other
