Simple breast cysts: Why I need follow up ?

I have multiple simple cysts first found during ultrasound almost 4 months ago (April). My breast surgeon just called me for follow up. I am busy and can not see her before November.

I am wondering if it is necessary. I always thought simple breast cysts are just benign conditions and do not require any follow up/checkups.

Hmmm.... I don't know. I'm in Ontario too (so the same treatment guidelines would apply), and over the years I've had more cysts than I can count. My simple cysts - those that are completely fluid filled with smooth round edges - have never required follow-up. However, my complicated cysts, those what have a bit of debris floating in the fluid, have always put me onto the 6 month follow-up schedule for one or two follow-ups, in order to ensure stability.

I looked over your previous posts and notice that you have about 15 cysts and had just one was aspirated. Perhaps one or two of those cysts does have debris? Or maybe there is some reason, based on the pathology of the aspiration, that your breast surgeon wants to check on you again. I'd suggest that you ask your breast surgeon because clearly your situation is a bit unusual, having that many cysts all at one time.
