Heyas...just thought I'd pop an update on here...

I'm doing much better than I thought I would - I'm not crying over him anymore and am looking forward to getting this done and dusted. My lawyer and I should be in a position to file the divorce petition in the court this Wednesday, which will mean he won't be able to contest my will or make medical decisions for me if I can't make them myself. Doubt I'll be able to recover any of the money he's blown but my brief is keen for this to go to trial...he's doing some pro bono hours for me so I suspect he has a plan. The papers being served are asking that I get 100% of the net profit of the house and spousal maintenance going forward...the ex will choke on that but I'm coming out swinging.

I've sorted out what I'll be taking back to the UK, the cat has just had his teeth cleaned so he's ready to be flown back and the dog is pretty bomb proof anyway (hoping he doesn't chew his way out of the plane but that's another matter lol). Just a matter of getting the house ready for sale and then finding a buyer. It's going to break my heart to leave Australia but I have all my family and some good friends back in the UK...thank heavens for Skype making it easy to keep in contact with everyone!

Good luck to you blondedoris, I'm from the UK but live in Canada. It wouldn't be easy to go 'home' but if I were in your shoes, I'd do it too. Once you are back in the UK and amongst your family and friends you'll do great. All the best

Hooray! I'm so glad for you blonddoris. Why not being back in UK with your loving family and friends? Visit Australia again once all of this is over :-)

Good luck and godspeed! You are on it and that is so awesome! I hope your house gets sold ASAP so you can go home and be with loved ones. Can you leave the country before the divorce is finalized and everything is sold?

My husband is from Torquay area. Where are you from?

Again, much luck and love to you Blondedoris!

PS...give him a kick in the nads from me.

JLStacey - LOL! Wish I could kick him in the jewels but I need him to fix up some stuff about the house first! I'll be heading back to Portsmouth; hopefully as soon as we get a confirmed buyer I can get on the plane. I'll leave the finalising of the sale to the lawyers and the ex can finish selling on the contents etc

I'll miss my aussie friends and adopted families, but blood is thicker than water etc. Just trying to mentally frame this as the end of one adventure and the start of another. My nephews are planning to start families this year as well, so it'd kill me a little not to be there for that!!

Perhaps you need some sort of vet certificate to bring the dog and cat into the UK?

heyas - yup, both fur babies need a 'pet passport' showing that they're chipped, vaccinated and have an up to date rabies shot. Fortunately going from Aus to uk doesn't involve quarantine anymore, so the pet shipper does a door to door service.

At least in Portsmouth the wildlife is a little safer; snickers managed to pick up a dead snake this week and scared the willies out of me! Labradors...not happy unless everything gets licked or put in their mouths..! The cat had a tooth out last week and was on opiates for pain relief - gosh, he's a mean drunk! He's normally the cuddliest furball ever but kept picking fights with the dog..

    Just an update

The three of us are now back in Pompey; the cat and the dog are absolutely fine after the long journey, and the dog is loving all the mud here!
I found out the week before I flew that I have another lesion in the skull, which is a real nuisance, but the NHS have agreed I'm not a health tourist (even though I have a valid UK passport and right to abode!) and I get to see my new oncologist tomorrow. (My Onc in Perth was furious as she'd sorted all the treatment plan out with the guys in the UK and it was the admin at the hospital kicking off over it. Fortunately I carry copies of all my paperwork everywhere so they couldn't deny I was entitled).
The ex is being a pain in the ass refusing to put the house on the market so he's being dragged back to court on the 29th. He's already in a truckload of debt again so I expect he'll be bankrupt by Christmas. Interestingly, he didn't deny shacking up with new bit of stuff and managed to get the type of cancer I have wrong in his statement (he wrote that I had bone cancer, not breast, lymph bone and lung, so that shows how invested he was in me). Funnily enough, he was able to name the dates that my employer stopped paying me though...

While I'm missing Perth and my friends there it's great being back among family and catching up with old friends in person. And 2 more bits of good news; I'm going to be a great aunt in October and my sister passed her 5 year mark today!

    Peace and love everyone!

    Colette

Just relieved that the migration is done and I have access to treatment again...I've left the divorce in the hands of the lawyer and I have faith the universe will deliver what he deserves.

Just didn't realise fox poo smelt so much worse than roo poo! Snickers has always been happiest when smelling like a swamp dog but this is pushing boundaries lol
