I went in yesterday for a palpable mass in my left upper quadrant. I was supposed to only have an ultrasound, but they performed a mammo, and then took additional spot pictures as well. When I saw the doctor she told me I needed a biopsy, that there is a new nodule that wasn't seen last year year. It was in the area I felt. She went to go get the scheduler, but then changed her mind and suggested i get it done before i left. I was the last patient there, so the us and mammo techs had to wait on me. Is this a bad sign? I keep reading how biopsies are usually scheduled a week out. The fact she wanted it done right away is making me nervous .. I'm 34 so it's probably nothing right

    Stephrow, so sorry you're here with breast health concerns. There are many women who come here who've also gotten biopsied the same day. If the facility has time, it really is a service not to send you away worried and having to schedule weeks out (and then wait again for your path results). I wouldn't read too much into that. Also, for perspective, 70-80% of biopsies come back b9, so that is in your favor. What is also in your favor (as you suggested) is your age. Here are some stats that may help you stay calm(er) as you await your results:

    Notice that you're in the youngest group that has statistics, and that group represents a15 year span. So 1.8% of cases of bc in the US are women in your age group. So it's not impossible, just very statistically unlikely. Do get a copy of your written report and post any confusing language here, sometimes even a b9 findings report can have technical words that feel scary. Someone here can help you better understand.     I'm also awaiting biopsy results, which I'm feeling hopeful about because of the encouraging feedback and support I found here :)

    Please know you're not alone in worrying - from what I've been reading, we all can let the "unknown" and anxiety take us to unpleasant places. Just want to say handle in there and let you know your post matters
